Chessgames Bookie: <technical draw> That happens sometimes, since I have a button that updates the leaderboard but not the full standings; both rankings were accurate when compiled, but the long one is now slightly out of date.
May-08-16  TIMER: <SwitchingQuylthulg> Thanks for helping me get the year added, but when do you think it should become a concern that I have not had an email on the other three prizes (I did not get the email chessgames.com mentioned above either)? I have checked but the email address on my preferences is correct as I thought.

I might be gone from here for a few weeks soon too.

Thanks for any help.

SwitchingQuylthulg: <TIMER> I haven't received an e-mail about the $25 gift certificate, either; I would guess Chessgames did not send out those e-mails on Thursday, despite saying they would. Has any of the other winners received such an e-mail?

chessgames.com: Sorry about the delay, emails just went out to the 10 winners. If you still do not receive an email please contact chess@chessgames.com or failing that contact me right here.
May-11-16  Boomie: The Chess-Results link for Llucmajor Rd. 5 goes to the wrong tournament.

Chessgames Bookie: <Boomie> Thanks for reporting it. As far as I can tell, the link did go to the right tournament, but there was a typo in the URL that made Chess-Results show the pairings for rounds 6 to 9 (at this point, just a list of players who have withdrawn and won't be paired at all) above the round 5 pairings.

Chessgames Bookie: My apologies for closing TCEC Stage 1a rd 9: Rybka - Protector earlier than scheduled; due to the unpredictable TCEC schedule and several unexpectedly short games (in particular, a super-short game between Hannibal and Laser) the game started earlier than I expected, and I didn't want it to accidentally become an in-play market. I hope this won't happen again.

The closing time for TCEC Stage 1a rd 9: Ginkgo - Komodo has also been adjusted. The general rule is that anything not specifically advertised as an in-play market is not supposed to go in-play.

Chessgames Bookie: <Pay Day Is Coming>

Your wallet's getting fat on Tuesday, June 14! All active ChessBookie players will receive their regular free c$1,000 mid-leg bonus.

As always, this is a good time to take risks - even if you lose everything now, Pay Day will put you back on your feet. Good luck everybody, and have fun!

Jun-08-16  WinKing: 'Carlsen vs. The Field' - Now that's a bet!!! I'll have to seriously ponder this one.
Jun-09-16  Boomie: ->

Minor point - "After day 1, Carlsen and Nakamura are tied for the lead with 3.5/5." The scoring for the rapid phase is 2 points for a win and 1 for a draw. So Carlsen and Nakamura are tied at 7/10.

Chessgames Bookie: <Boomie> I know; I felt that 3.5/5 would be less confusing than 7/10 or 7/5 (or even "tied for the lead with 7 points"), even if it isn't strictly accurate.

To keep the note both clear and accurate, I've now changed it to simply "after day 1, Carlsen and Nakamura are tied for the lead."

Jun-09-16  Boomie: <CB: "after day 1, Carlsen and Nakamura are tied for the lead.">

A sensible solution.

The rapid games count twice the blitz games to arrive at the total. As long as the punters understand that, there shouldn't be any whining.

Penguincw: I just realized that this is the Spring Leg 2016, and that the first ever ChessBookie leg was the Spring 2006 leg. So yay, happy 10th anniversary to the ChessBookie game!
