<Format>:

[player]-[player] [result] [# of MOVES]

==4 Different Scoring Methods==

Standard Moves Ranker (1st place-Over[3pts], 1st place-Under [7pts], Exact [10pts])

Bonus Ranker (3rd place-Over[1pts],2nd place-Over[2pts],3rd place-Under [5pts], 2nd place-Under [6pts]

Standard Moves/Bonus Ranker [Add all to together]

1st place Ranker [how many 1st place you have in Standard Moves Ranker]

For example:

<Note: Participants 3, 4, and 5 are predicated on nobody scoring an exact as Participant 2 did. If someone hits an exact, the closest score under and over will score the points for second place.>

Actual Game: [player]-[player] 0-1 45

Participant 1: [player]-[player] 1/2 45
Participant 2: [player]-[player] 0-1 45
Participant 3: [player]-[player] 0-1 44
Participant 4: [player]-[player] 0-1 43
Participant 5: [player]-[player] 0-1 46

Participant 1: No points even though 45 is correct. Results must be correct. If Result is wrong and moves # is correct...you get no points whatsoever

Participant 2: 10 pts rewarded for correct Result/moves #

Participant 3: 7 pts rewarded for closest under (1st-Under) to 45 moves

Participant 4: 6 pts rewarded for the 2nd closest under (2nd-Under) to 45 moves.

Participant 5: 3 pts rewarded closest OVER(1st-OVER) to 45 moves.

Again, the description of Participant 3, 4, and 5 are based on there being no exact prediction as made by Participant 2.

<IF> there is an exact or an under closest, the highest scoring over participant will be 2nd over. The second closest over will be 3rd over. The <ONLY> time there will be a first over is if there is no exact or under winner.

Apr-30-17  WinKing: Thanks a bunch <GoldenExecutive> for pulling double duty & running two contests it is greatly appreciated by all. No easy task keeping everything straight. Also thanks to <OhioChessFan> for hosting the event. He kept everyone entertained with his round by round commentaries.

Congratulations to all of the medal winners & there were quite a few this time which is great to see. Special grats to you <GE> on playing a great game on all fronts picking up 2 golds & 2 bronze - Kudos! Special grats also to <SwitchingQuylthulg> who picked up two golds & a silver. You two were back & forth which made for an exciting contest.

Apr-30-17  alfamikewhiskey: Thank you for running the contest - great stuff!

  OhioChessFan: ** Final Update **

<Switch> and <GE> held on to win two rankers each, and were the two top finishers by a wide margin in Moves+Bonus Ranker, as expected. <Switch> and <GE> both ended up with 2 gold and 2 bronze. <OhioChessFan> had a little run to end up with 2 silver and 1 bronze. <juan31> had 1 silver. <WinKing> had a late rush that fell short of winning, but did end up with a silver and a bronze. <wordfunph> likewise had a silver and a bronze. <chessmoron> ended up with 2 bronze. <alfamikewhiskey> had 1 bronze, although he mysteriously disappeared before the final round. Price Waterhouse might be looking into the almost impossible to believe four way tie for third in Moves Ranker, but for now, the committee will award all 4 bronze medals.

In a vote of sportswriters who have watched at least one movie this year, the Caissy for Best Acting in a Moves Prediction Contest went to <GE>, barely edging out <chessmoron> with his impressive faux innocent last minute appeal for help, and <OhioChessFan> for his over the top whining about not being able to take over for <chessmoron>. As they gave <GE> the award, they cited the precedent of Gary Cooper in High Noon, who manned up when everyone else in town failed to show up when needed.

Thanks to everyone for playing. How does Norway look <chessmoron>?

May-01-17  alfamikewhiskey: <mysteriously disappeared>

Look to Norway. I'll be back.

May-02-17  Golden Executive: Thanks <OhioChessFan>, a lot of fun with your unique recaps round by round.

Its been a while since last time I won 2 golds here!.

Congratulations to the medal winners!! See you all in a month for the Norway tournament.

May-03-17  Nisjesram: Just now I got a little angry just for a second and then I let it go (out there in real life). Not good. I still need to make some more progress.

I could use some more help from scumbags of rogoff forum

Once again :

thanks to scumbags (trolls, troll feeders and/or idiots) of rogoff forum <saffuna>, <ocf>, <big pawn> , <good anarchist> , <bobsterman 3000> , <moronovich> I am almost completely free from anger now.

I could use some more help from scumbags.

Scumbags - will you please hurl some insults at me?

Thank you, scumbags.

May-23-17  Nisjesram: Wednesday morning in India.

I visit rogoff forum after 24 hours for a few minutes again.

1)has <big pawn> explained yet why must 'uncaused cause' be replaced with God in omv morality argument?

2)has <ohiochessfan> explained if not <big pawn> ?

They both claim to have very high degree of critical thinking and they claim they are not cowards and liars, so they must have explained in last 24 hours, I might have missed.

On the other hand <johnlspouge> says <big pawn> 's jig is over , he can not explain this , he has not for many years now.

Hmm

<Bureaucrat> , <abdel irada> , <johnlspouge> and other honest , ethical , constructive users here - I would visit again after 24 hours. Please let me know if <ohiochessfan> and <big pawn> have explained and I missed as I am short of time , can't read very carefully every post.

I will read first line of posts tomorrow to look for the answer .

Thank you , regards , namaste

May-24-17  Nisjesram: : < Big Pawn: <nizzle>, you need to carefully read my last few posts addressed to you, because the questions you are asking are answered there. And you don't get off the hook from answering my questions but trying to shift the subject by asking me a whole line of questions. Not gonna happen. Never the less, your questions are addressed in my last few posts to you>

That is from the <big pawn> forum.

Now on Friday evening (sat morning USA),

I will comment on these posts of <big pawn> in which he has explained why 'uncaused cause' must be replaced with God in omv morality argument

They are extremely laughable, however, I would request you people to show some respect (pretend to show some respect at least) and not laugh , if you please, <johnlspouge>, <bureaucrat> ,<abdel irada> and others.

Nah , just kidding :)

Laugh all you want when you read his comments and my response to them on Friday evening.

Thank you, regards, Namaste

Jun-04-17  WinKing: <Robin01: Looking forward to the new prediction contest. Any idea of when they will have the pairings up? Thanks.>

Not really sure <Robin01>. I do know this. The blitz tournament will determine the pairings.

<7. The winner of the blitz tournament will choose his number in the main tournament. Number 2 will get the highest available number, and number 3 the second highest, and so on.>

See here(Regulations) for more info:

  OhioChessFan: **Let the Picking Begin**

Welcome to the Norway 2017 Moves Prediction Contest. This contest involves picking a game result (1-0 1/2 or 0-1) and the number of moves in the game. As an example, if in the first round game you think Nakamura with White will draw Giri in 40 moves, your entry would say:

Nakamura-Giri 1/2 40

While it is a bit more complicated than the game prediction contest hosted by <GoldenExecutive> it isn't <that> much more complicated. I think my profile as written by <chessmoron> does a pretty good job explaining how things work.

A few odds and ends. Scoring mistakes occasionally happen. Let <chessmoron> know, on this forum. Quickly. It can seem intimidating to new players, but no worries. Feel free to ask questions. I will point out the scoring system (in my profile) is heavily weighted toward being under and not over, the actual number of moves.
