<Format>:

[player]-[player] [result] [# of MOVES]

==4 Different Scoring Methods==

Standard Moves Ranker (1st place-Over[3pts], 1st place-Under [7pts], Exact [10pts])

Bonus Ranker (3rd place-Over[1pts],2nd place-Over[2pts],3rd place-Under [5pts], 2nd place-Under [6pts]

Standard Moves/Bonus Ranker [Add all to together]

1st place Ranker [how many 1st place you have in Standard Moves Ranker]

For example:

<Note: Participants 3, 4, and 5 are predicated on nobody scoring an exact as Participant 2 did. If someone hits an exact, the closest score under and over will score the points for second place.>

Actual Game: [player]-[player] 0-1 45

Participant 1: [player]-[player] 1/2 45
Participant 2: [player]-[player] 0-1 45
Participant 3: [player]-[player] 0-1 44
Participant 4: [player]-[player] 0-1 43
Participant 5: [player]-[player] 0-1 46

Participant 1: No points even though 45 is correct. Results must be correct. If Result is wrong and moves # is correct...you get no points whatsoever

Participant 2: 10 pts rewarded for correct Result/moves #

Participant 3: 7 pts rewarded for closest under (1st-Under) to 45 moves

Participant 4: 6 pts rewarded for the 2nd closest under (2nd-Under) to 45 moves.

Participant 5: 3 pts rewarded closest OVER(1st-OVER) to 45 moves.

Again, the description of Participant 3, 4, and 5 are based on there being no exact prediction as made by Participant 2.

<IF> there is an exact or an under closest, the highest scoring over participant will be 2nd over. The second closest over will be 3rd over. The <ONLY> time there will be a first over is if there is no exact or under winner.

<Ohio Cheese Fan>

Aha "Acme" = "Ask Me"

Nowadays I'm on alert for your puns so I got that one.

I added "Cheese" to your name today in honor of all of the agricultural/country fairs around this time of year.

I live in the country now and our fair is around the corner. I may even enter the Pumpkin throwing contest or rope a few calfs.

Anyways I am aware that among many other distinctions, the <Ohio State Fair> boasts the record for the biggest cheese ever displayed in public.

  OhioChessFan: Odds and ends on fairs:

The highlight of the Ohio State Fair is definitely The Butter Cow.

I showed cattle, sheep, and hogs in 4H at the county fairs, a few times I took cattle to the Ohio State Fair, and once I took sheep.

The parking lot at the Ohio State Fair is a huge affair, bigger than many of the farms of the entrants. One night, we got there about 3 AM the day before the fair's opening. Dad was driving a stock trailer. He wanted to park it underneath a light, so he decided that the right spot was beneath the biggest/brightest light there. There was one other vehicle in the entire lot, a 4x4 that someone had left. Dad managed to back into it and majorly crunch the bumper. Mom was shrieking at him as she'd been saying all along to stay away from it. Dad was one of those people you couldn't tell anything to. So he did the right thing, and drove to the other end of the lot so as not to be implicated in the damage that truck owner would find the next morning.

There's a midway game I learned to win, where you stand up a pop bottle with a cane and a ring. Takes maybe an hour of practice and you can win most the time. No practice, and you simply can't do it.

I had an aunt who won one of the State Fair cake decorating contests maybe 15 times, and a cousin in law who won it multiple, not sure how many.

I got a hold of a pig once in a greased pig contest, but I was so small for my age, I had no chance to pick it up and throw it in a stock trailer as was required. Had to let it go. The kid who caught it after me was so big, he simply picked it up and carried it about 100 feet and dropped it in.

<Ohio Butter Cow>

Your fair is way better than ours eh? I like the cut of your Dad's jib.

<he did the right thing>

I should say so. He really put Spike Lee in his place there.

I don't normally google, because I believe (mistakenly) it to be "jejune," but I had to look at The Butter Cow.

That is a Butter Ohio (you) tending the Cow, if I'm not mistaken:

They just nodded sagely, with blank stares.

I don't think they know what "Dark Side of the Moon" is, though that didn't occur to me until years later.>

Oddly, that was THE FIRST thought that popped into my head when I read your post.

Aug-10-18  WinKing: <OCF> I will hold off on posting a 'flyer' for Sinquefield here untill a few days before the tournament. I see there is still discussion going on concerning <chessgames> future. <Sargon> has made a statement just recently in the <Daniel Freeman> forum:

  OhioChessFan: My response to Sargon. I decided to post here as Daniel's page is already in enough of an uproar.

Sure, drop a masked f bomb in here, and tell us that <WE> need to take a chill pill. 2 weeks and <this> is your first post? It took what, 2 minutes? Pathetic. I do not cut you slack for the situation as you've had a long time to mentally prepare what you'd say, and you come up with a vulgar profanity that has no place on a family site, while chiding everyone else? You've had 2 weeks to take a minute or two and say something, anything, and this is the quality of your statement? Pathetic. Hammer away.

I dont agree with much of Ohios opinions, but this is post of the year! I have to agree with <Ohio> and <Diademas> here on this one. With this attitude, <Sargon> could ruin the site.

<Big Pawn>

I agree with <Ohio> that <Sargon> should have been a great deal more polite, not to mention politic. Cursing at a website <Daniel> did his best to make a welcoming place for children was the biggest error.

But I doubt he is going to ruin the site. At any rate, he is the only game in town at the moment.

A perhaps slender thread between there being a cg.com and there not being a cg.com.

I would prefer cg.com to exist with *any* administrator, as opposed to not exist at all.

Aug-11-18

  OhioChessFan: <Jess> I did give that some thought, and I have to say that in an overall, philosophical sense, I wouldn't live under tyranny for any reason. If after two weeks <that> is the best he could come up with, I'm greatly concerned. I will also point out the obvious, that it was a written statement. We all say things that we instantly regret. But the act of typing out eliminates the vast majority of unfortunate things we might say. So, he knows the place is clamoring to hear from him, he hasn't bothered to take 30 seconds to deal with this in the past 2 weeks, and <that> rant is the best he can come up with? Well, I'm not in agreement that I'd put up with <any> admin, and I'm a bit concerned that might be one I will <not> put up with.
Aug-11-18  Big Pawn: <JFQ: But I doubt he is going to ruin the site. At any rate, he is the only game in town at the moment.

Don't waste another minute sweating this. He is not the only game in town and the site is not going to disappear. One of my businesses is a marketing company. This business has been making websites, taking over websites, saving lost websites, fixing websites and of course marketing websites for over 10 years. I have many contractors that work for me. If push came to shove, I could have this site back up again in a week, as long as the content is backed up so that the pages could be populated again.

I haven't mentioned this because the libs, who like Drag Queens to teach kindergartners about homo sex, would have a fit, and besides, we can just wait and see what will happen. I doubt I would have to save this site. At least that's what I'm thinking.

But do not let your heart be troubled one iota. At the end of the day, nothing bad is going to happen. I know how to get around everything.

Aug-11-18  thegoodanarchist: <jessicafischerqueen:

How would you feel about having a lifetime criminal who harrassed Daniel for years, as administrator?

<<<If>> I can buy Daniel's share in this site this page gets nuked along with the cafe. We've all got forums so we can all take it there. If not and weirdos like that @#$%* <Big Pawn> (who's about to be permanently banned!)...>

Not that I believe him. But I suppose it's possible.

<Ohio> I understand your position on this, and I respect it.

Surely it is early days though? I don't want to make definitive pre-judgments about what will happen in the future.

It takes a fair bit of time to judge how good or bad someone is at their job, in most cases at least.

<Big Pawn>

Thanks for taking the time to make such a detailed post on this topic. It's most heartening to hear the kind of information you provide.

Belated thanks also for the detailed responses you made to me on the admin page about "CC Numbers" and other website topics.

On that topic, my Chrome browser has downgraded cg.com to the "middle security setting" which is labeled <Not secure>.

I had to click on the "little i in a circle" icon and change my permissions defaults in order to access cg.com.

Chrome has three security settings in the URL address:

Great, Not so great, and Bloody awful.

Luckily, in the past my credit card company has been grand about unauthorized payments- they look out for me and they always take the hit when they authorize a bogus payment from my card.

I've never once had to pay for an unauthorized transaction out of my own pocket.

Who says all big banking companies are terrible?

Sometimes big is better. They can afford to take hits and because there is more than one company, they have a vested interest in good customer service.

This is one of the better aspects of capitalism, in my view. <Ben Shapiro> goes on and on about this from his libertarian perspective, which favors free market competition over government intervention.

I don't agree with everything <Ben> has to say, not by a long shot.

But I trust him as a news source and an analyst.

In fact, if he ran for "King of Canada" or some such he has my vote.

I can only say that I can't think of a worse candidate for cg.com administrator than myself.

I would have deleted 99 per cent of the website membership already, and eventually there would only be one member left...
