<Format>:

[player]-[player] [result] [# of MOVES]

==4 Different Scoring Methods==

Standard Moves Ranker (1st place-Over[3pts], 1st place-Under [7pts], Exact [10pts])

Bonus Ranker (3rd place-Over[1pts],2nd place-Over[2pts],3rd place-Under [5pts], 2nd place-Under [6pts]

Standard Moves/Bonus Ranker [Add all to together]

1st place Ranker [how many 1st place you have in Standard Moves Ranker]

For example:

<Note: Participants 3, 4, and 5 are predicated on nobody scoring an exact as Participant 2 did. If someone hits an exact, the closest score under and over will score the points for second place.>

Actual Game: [player]-[player] 0-1 45

Participant 1: [player]-[player] 1/2 45
Participant 2: [player]-[player] 0-1 45
Participant 3: [player]-[player] 0-1 44
Participant 4: [player]-[player] 0-1 43
Participant 5: [player]-[player] 0-1 46

Participant 1: No points even though 45 is correct. Results must be correct. If Result is wrong and moves # is correct...you get no points whatsoever

Participant 2: 10 pts rewarded for correct Result/moves #

Participant 3: 7 pts rewarded for closest under (1st-Under) to 45 moves

Participant 4: 6 pts rewarded for the 2nd closest under (2nd-Under) to 45 moves.

Participant 5: 3 pts rewarded closest OVER(1st-OVER) to 45 moves.

Again, the description of Participant 3, 4, and 5 are based on there being no exact prediction as made by Participant 2.

<IF> there is an exact or an under closest, the highest scoring over participant will be 2nd over. The second closest over will be 3rd over. The <ONLY> time there will be a first over is if there is no exact or under winner.

Aug-24-18  WinKing: <DerDiemer:...like jokes or something...>

Yes <DerDiemer> exactly like jokes.

Aug-24-18  DerDiemer: Round 6:

Nakamura - Aronian 1/2 38
Mamedyarov - Vachier-Lagrave 1-0 44
Caruana - Karjakin 1/2 36
Grischuk - Carlsen 0-1 41
So - Anand 1/2 36

Aug-24-18  DerDiemer: Good luck to all guessers :-)
Aug-24-18  WinKing: I am happy to report all players have posted picks after the rest day. I have posted all of our picks in my forum.
Aug-24-18  Count Wedgemore: <DerDiemer> sounds very German, and as everybody knows: Germans have no sense of humour. So <DD>'s reaction to <OCF>'s recaps didn't really surprise me that much :)

But, turns out his native tongue is Afrikaans, so South African, probably?

Well, come to think of it, Emil Joseph Diemer was a die-hard Nazi, and those guys weren't really big into the humour department, right?

All in good fun, <DD>. Stay the course!

Aug-24-18  DerDiemer: <But, turns out his native tongue is Afrikaans, so South African, probably?

Will do <CW>. Yes from Suid-Afrika, white afrikaner and origanaly from the Netherlands, not Germany, dont like Nazi history at all, but the chessgames of Joseph Diemer awesome :)

Aug-24-18  Count Wedgemore: <DD> Truly an original and innovative player. But I stay away from the Blackmar-Diemer gambit. It's terrible!

I think the fact that Diemer won so many games with it, had more to do with the strong calibre of his play than the strength of that opening. I mean: 1.d4 d5 2.e4?! It hurts just writing it down :)

But a great player, no doubt about that.

  OhioChessFan: ** Round 6 Recap **

We're 2/3 of the way through our tournament(<OCF> did that in his head if anyone is imprssed), and the action off the playing floor is almost as exciting as the games themselves. <chessmoron> and <WinKing> have taken control of this tournament, as each leads 2 Rankers. We're down to just one lousy contestant with a zero on the board, <alfamikewhiskey>, who clearly can't keep up the good work if he never even started the good work.

In other news, the contestants had just about settled down when <WinKing> had to get <DD> all upset again with an unwarranted attack on <OCF's> mental state. After half the contestants had started picking sides, <Winky> tried to smooth everything over by saying, "Only kidding!" Then <Count Wedgemore> decided it'd be funny to bring the Nazis into the conversation. Then <amw>, one of the few people with some sense on the board, told <OCF> how awesome he is. Then <OCF> proved how awesome he was by making a speech that probably should win him the Nobel Peace Prize.

And there we stand. Will anyone rise up to challenge <Winky> and <chessmoron>? Is it just coincidence the two people keeping score have the highest scores? Will Good <amw>(the one who thinks <OCF> is awesome or Bad <amw>(the one who still has a lousy 0 on the scoreboard) show up this round? Who will be insulted by <this> recap? Stay tuned for the answers to these and many other pertinent questions. 3 rounds to go in our exciting contest.

OhioChessFan: <Count> it isn't only the ridiculous picking of all decisive games to try to win the Betting Gold that bothered me. One person had made all their picks before the tournament started, as is usual for them. Then after his two closest pursuers, including me, made our final round posts, he saw that we could gain one game on his previously made selections, and changed his final round selections to the very same as the two of us so that we couldn't catch him. What a total load of crap. I guess I need to appreciate the people who play the game right and not worry about the few who don't.

Per <Sneaky>, I just had a look at <The Caissars> and realized he had a lot of input there, nominating and voting for a lot of people. That's fine, I guess with 13,000 posts you're going to be everywhere, but Prediction Contests, ChessBookie, Team Games and The Caissars seem like 4 places you shouldn't be. Not losing sleep over it, but I do wonder if he ever considered the impropriety of it. Even if he didn't think it was a big deal-which I suspect would be the majority view-he had to be aware some people wouldn't like it.
