FSR: I had a good year pun-wise. I had thought that "Three Times a Lady" (V Gunina vs S Sevian, 2015), "Instant Rapport" (R Rapport vs T Rogers, 2014), and "Lord of the Files" (J Rudd vs A Golding, 2015), would likely be contenders for the Caissar this year.

But those were before the incomparable
"Mr. Georgiev, Wear Down this Tal!" (Kiril D Georgiev vs Shaked, 1999), which receives my nomination for <Best (Worst) Pun of the Year>. My congratulations to User: Phony Benoni for this gem. I just handed my punball crown to him.

Jan-10-16  Sularus: <GAME OF THE YEAR> I nominate

Carlsen vs Aronian, 2015

Jan-10-16  valiant: I nominate <FSR> & <Stonehenge> for Most Helpful.

latvalatvian: A Giri vs Svidler, 2015 (kibitz #2) <latvalatvian: Just to give a brief summary of these players approach to chess: First, they go to Kibitzer's Corner and read all the commentary about them, paying close attention to the criticism. Then they write a short essay defending themselves against this criticism. Next, they review the rules of chess and the Maxims laid down by Steinitz. Then they write down the variations that Stockfish 6 considers and the variations that the 1967 Greenplatt computer chess program considers. Next they try to implement Gleenplatt moves into their opening systems realizing that most Grandmasters have forgotten about this program. Then they go to the chess board and think about the various mythologies that could arise from their games. They think about what mythologies they want to come true and play accordingly.>

TheFocus: http://www.chessgames.com/perl/ches... <TheFocus: This is match game 3 of a match played in 1883. The match is not known or shown in Sid Pickard's <The Games of Wilhelmina Steinitz>...> Followed by <TheFocus: That should be Wilhelmina and not Wilhelmina.>

TheTamale:
Igor Ivanov vs L Witt, 1981 <TheTamale: I wonder why this opening is classified as "Benko Gambit: Accepted. Yugoslav without 7...Bxf1" when Black's 7th move, in fact, is Bxf1...?>

Jan-11-16  technical draw: I have been nominated twice for funniest kibitzer. Once by <golden executive and once by Juan 31>. So I guess that makes me a candidate. (Unless it's 3 nominations then i nominate myself)

Annie K.: Hmm... just an observation. I see people are nominating <Golden Executive> for taking over the prediction contest. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that, but... how about honoring the person who had been running it for all these years, and had written the program for it, first?

I nominate <YouRang> for Most Constructive. :)

Jan-11-16  MarkFinan: I I nominate <john barleycorn> for Best post

I nominate <TheFocus> most informed

I nominate <Karposian> Best profile

I nominate <Harry lime> for most helpful.

I nominate <Abdel Irada> For funniest poster>

I'll think about the others but let me just say this now and I'll shut up. In fact it's exactly what I said last year...and the year before.

Once the nominations are all in I'll <tell you> who'll win because this is cronyism. I've nothing at all against <TechnicalDraw> but we all know he'll win funniest poster, even though I'm yet to see him say anything very funny. Nice guy okay, but funny no. I guess this is never going to change so I've nominated people I like and/or find funny for the wrong reasons. I've just gotta squeeze Morfishine, Shams, Penguicw, hmm, Mort and a few others in now because I know you're all thinking what I'm saying.

WannaBe: <MarkFinan> You can nominate up to 3 (total) people or games (in the case of Best/Worst Pun, or Game of the Year)

Humour is a very funny subject, please pardon the pun. I've got friends who absolutely abhor Three Stooges, but love Austin Powers, and loves Airplane or Naked Gun, but distain Simpsons.

It's hard to please everyone, so...

Jan-11-16  MarkFinan: Wannabe.. You make a fair point but I'm sure deep down you know people vote for him because he's a nice guy. I say give him a "lifetime achievement" kind of award and let someone who's posts actually make the memorable quotes forum have a shot. I'm not saying this to be funny (!?) with him, I'm saying it because we all know it's true.

WannaBe: <MarkFinan> It's a fair and open nomination/voting process. And that's the way I like to see it, continued. =)

LOL. I don't know if <technical draw> is funny or not because I've only ever seen four posts by him/her.

Jan-12-16  TheFocus: I nominate <john barleycorn> for Best Post.

Annie K.: <offramp> your Best Game Collection nominations are not valid - please submit actual game collections, not just user names.

<MarkFinan> and <TheFocus> your Best Post nominations are not valid - please submit actual posts, not just user names.

And Mark, you may be right to an extent, but you're not helping things this way. :)

OK, update time...
