One indicator that they were weaker are the stories of past child prodigies bringing the said masters to struggling. Like Reshevsky defeating Wolf and nearly defeating Vidmar at the age of 5.Look at modern child prodigies. <No one> of them was even close to defeating a master at five. The fact tat those masters could be defeated by a five year old, no matter how prodigious, shows they were weaker than modern masters. |
