 | | MissScarlett: A couple of my game submissions have been uploaded, but I'm missing a game, Tylor-Koltanowski, 1929. Was there an error involved? You may also care to address the schedule for your proposed overhaul of the game submission system. |

 | | Tabanus: <chessgames.com: We normally don't use stubs for unknown scores but in the case of forfeits it's OK.> I have to agree. At least when one or a few forfeits affect the (top-30) standings. Another 'problem' is unplayed draws (not uncommon in e. g. Gibraltar & Reykjavik). |

 | | chessgames.com: I've got a program now that monitors the Stockfish engine server to see if it's busy. If it's not, it feeds it 1-hour Opening Explorer requests on the most commonly seen positions. While setting this up, an old thought returned to me. We've got this database of opening moves and when they were played, so the question of "TNs of 2017" (or any year) is just a computational task. Of course, most TNs are not theoretical advancements, it's just the result of somebody going awry in an opening—but the ones that are repeated could be of interest to opening theoreticians. Is there some move that appeared 10 times in the Ruy Lopez in 2017 that was never seen previously—or only seen once, long ago? This could provide a treasure trove to those who are into that kind of thing. Another simple statistical search is the question of which opening positions (given some minimum number of moves deep) are most popular on any given year. You could flip through the pages and see the KID rise and fall in popularity, the Berlin Wall become trendy, or simply the ebb and flow between e4 and d4 openings. |

 | | chessgames.com: <Tabanus> One benefit of stubbing forfeited games, besides correcting the standings table, is that sometimes there is a lot to say about a game that was never played. Fischer vs Spassky, 1972, Kramnik vs Topalov, 2006, etc. |

 | | chessgames.com: <WannaBe: Another 'funny' question... What do you do for player(s) in database that have birthday on Feb. 29th?> They aren't player of the day as often as the others. The highest rated leap-year-baby is Adlane Arab. |
|
Mar-01-18
 | | Stonehenge: <The highest rated leap-year-baby is Adlane Arab.> GM Niclas Huschenbeth is higher rated. |
|
| Mar-01-18 | | WinKing: Niclas Huschenbeth a rating of 2581. Not bad for a 6 year old. ;) |

Mar-05-18
 | | chessgames.com: Thanks, there was a nonstandard move notation in that old game that was never reported (R3e1 vs Ree1). You should always differentiate with letters unless it's impossible, only then do you use numbers. It should work now. |

 | | chessgames.com: <Stonehenge: I can only see the first four moves here:
Vigdorchik vs Alekhine, 1914> Ugh, one of those games without capture marks. The best way to fix it is still an open question. |

Mar-05-18
 | | Stonehenge: See also Olga Viewer chessforum (kibitz #209). I submitted correction slips on two Nimzo games I think, but it seems to be an Olga problem. |
|
Mar-05-18
 | | chessgames.com: Yes that's a well known bug. Once a three time rep is claimable it insists that it continues to be claimable until the very last move. It should be fixed in a future release of chess.js. See http://github.com/jhlywa/chess.js/i... |

 | | Check It Out: Hey <CG>, not sure if you are aware or if it’s a platform thing, I find I’m unable to delete a recent post while posting on a cell . |

 | | Check It Out: Though interestingly, I now see that I could delete the post I just made here but not the one I just made at the world championship candidates page. Any explanation for that? |

 | | moronovich: <Check It Out: Though interestingly, I now see that I could delete the post I just made here but not the one I just made at the world championship candidates page. Any explanation for that?> May be the "Hotel California" effect !? |

Mar-07-18
 | | chessgames.com: It's just that the mobile kibitzing has some limitations and a delete button is one of them. (The reason why you see a delete button on chessforums is that they haven't been made "mobile compatible" yet.) We should work on fixing that. Mobile kibitzing is not nearly as good as the desktop version yet. |
|
Mar-07-18
 | | Check It Out: <CG> Thanks. I should think mobile kibitzing is on the rise so improvements are desirable. <moronovich> Indeed, though I think the Rogoff page has the trademark on that. |
