<z> Do you know how I can find the URL link to the newly updated <zip files>?

I want to look at it as well.

Jan-01-21  Z4all: Hi Jess - yes, I think you will find it on a link contained on Premium Members FAQ page:

Premium Membership Help Page

Or, more directly, use this link:

Well, the last 4 games from Dec 31 were missing. And today the 5 games from yesterday are also missing.

<z> Thank you! So far I have been looking at the zip file. This contains the pgn for every game in our database amirite.

Jan-04-21  Z4all: <JFQ> yes, it should be a complete snapshot of the database's games.

Whether it contains a real and complete snapshot of a given time is subject to how well managed the database is (and how well the tools are programmed).

In principle it's a complete picture of <CG> (minus all the chat and bios, that is).

Tabanus: "Maintaining the database is hard work". The Rapid event 16th Corsica Masters KO (2012) is complete (34 games) but no intro and the games Classical.

Any chance of having it editable/TI-ed?

offramp: On the home page you have
GOTD: Chekhover vs Lasker, 1935
Opening: Nimzovich-Bent Larsen &
Puzzle: Anand vs Lautier, 1995
Although it's not her birthday, you could have had
Kateryna Lagno
as Player of the Day.

I think you should try and link up all four of the home page inserts, perhaps even as a kind of puzzle.

Jan-06-21  Z4all: How am I supposed to find a player like

<H G Daniel>

when the <Advanced Search> on this name yields 11,752 entries:

https://www.chessgames.com/perl/che...

Ahh, counter-intuitively, the <E-Z Search> is more exacting:

search "h g daniel"

Hate to say it, but this <Daniel> <Search> moves the lame-meter a notch or two.

Check It Out: Revisiting this unanswered query regarding ads popping up for premium members:

<<<Sargon: <Tabanus: [...] they will sneak in ads whenever they can [...]>

Nonsense. Any premium member who—having set the preference to suppress 3rd-party ad display—thereafter sees <any> 3rd-party ad on <any> page needs to <report it immediately, because that's a software error!>>

OhioChessFan: Mobile, Chrome browser. I get ads on the bottom of every page in the alphabetical player directory.>

Check It Out: <Sargon> Similar to <OCF>, I use mobile, Chrome browser. I get ads just below the pgn and above the kibitzing on all game pages.

Obviously a premium member, and "do not display 3rd party ads" is checked in preferences.>

<Sargon> Any word on the software error causing this?

Jan-07-21  Boomie: <Chessgames.com>

The posting guidelines are listed as follows:

<Please observe our posting guidelines:

1. No obscene, racist, sexist, or profane language.

2. No spamming, advertising, duplicate, or gibberish posts.

3. No vitriolic or systematic personal attacks against other members.

4. Nothing in violation of United States law.

5. No cyberstalking or malicious posting of negative or private information (doxing/doxxing) of members.

6. No trolling.

7. The use of "sock puppet" accounts to circumvent disciplinary action taken by moderators, create a false impression of consensus or support, or stage conversations, is prohibited.>

However, the list in "Blow the Whistle" do not match:

< PROBLEM(S):

The username is inappropriate.

Spamming, advertising, or duplicating posts.

Obscene, profane, racist, or sexist content.

Personal attacks against other user(s).

Post may violate U.S. law.

Post is off-topic.

Post reveals personal information.

If none of the above violations apply, select "OTHER". Please use this choice sparingly; for things that do not violate the rules above are probably not violations.

Other.>

These lists should at least attempt to be coordinated.

Check It Out: <Sargon> has posted at least three times over several days on this forum since the original query. His statement made it sound like an urgent issue:<report it immediately, because that's a software error!>

Meanwhile, I still see the ads and have probably accidentally applied for several mortgage refinances, obtained unwanted insurance, and may have even purchased a bidet.
