Chessgames Bookie: It would be great if we could get the Bookie site set up to start the new leg with the TATA Steel tournament about to begin in a week. Thanks

Susan Freeman: <Offramp> yes to the Hastings. Steve is on it.
Jan-10-21  Sokrates: Second <Chessgames Bookie> in the wish that Wijk an Zee shall be installed visible on the front page before the tournament begins.

We all know it's one of the most important annual events, and it would be quite incomprehensible if CG puts in on after the tournament has commenced, less misses it completely.

stevemcd87: <Check It Out>, we've made an update to the JS file that hides the ads on the html pages a couple of days ago.

Please reach out in stevemcd87 chessforum with a link to the page where you see the ads and the device you're using if you continue to see them.

Sorry about that.

Check It Out: <stevemcd87> Whatever your update did, worked; I no longer see the ads. I'd be interested to hear from <OCF> since I think he was experiencing the same issue on a similar platform.

Thanks!

Jan-11-21  realdumptrump: <CIO - <WannaBe> Could you translate your joke in to English?>

Of course explaining a joke is no joke...

Basically, he's showing a snippet of "<CG> code" that checks just for you, specifically to misbehave.

(Technical aside- a 404 error is HTML geek speak for "page not found". Wannabe really should have put in the "Bidet + Mortage combo" subroutine instead.)

Jan-11-21  realdumptrump: Wouldn't "fix" be more accurate than "update"?

MissScarlett: I note there's a correction submission from a player requesting the deletion of some purportedly inappropriate comments on his respective player page. Is it only titled players that are entitled to such editorial control?

Susan Freeman: It is my understanding that people have control but I will check again.

Jan-13-21  morfishine: Shouldn't there be a tournament page for Rome 1989?, when Zsofia Polgar won with the "Sack of Rome"

Good idea. Here are two good starting points if you would like to make it.

Game Collection: Sofia Polgar - Sac of Rome 1989

Jan-14-21  Sokrates: Sack of Rome: ZP beat a man named Carlo d'Amore. That bears enough relevance to me! :-)
