Good morning.
<GrahamClayton> offers a good suggestion to edit the pgn upload utility page: PGN Upload Utility Here is a portion of the text on that page as it is now: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
<Please provide the source for all submitted games in the "Source" tag of the PGN file (maximum 64 characters).
Insert PGN (header+moves) for game below:
You may include comments to chessgames.com here: The following PGN is provided as an example:

[Site "London ENG"]
[Date "1866.??.??"]
[EventDate "?"]
[Round "6"]
[Result "0-1"]
[White "Bird, Henry E"]

You will note that the instructions say a source tag is necessary, but the sample pgn does not include a source tag. <Graham> suggests editing a source tag in to the sample pgn on this page. Here is <Graham's> original kibbitz: jessicafischerqueen chessforum (kibitz #37104) |

 | | Susan Freeman: <OhioChessFan>
<Glad you got some Easter graphics up.>
Thank you.
It took an electric cattle probe. |
|
Apr-05-21
 | | Susan Freeman: I meant prod, but probe might also apply. |
|
Apr-05-21
 | | OhioChessFan: I don't really know what you're talking about, but it sure sounds fun! |

 | | MissScarlett: <Annie>, gone....<Sargon>, gone, if not buried....<stevemcd>, seen lurking, but not posted for a fortnight.. I'm calling for all hands on deck. |
|
| Apr-05-21 | | Z4all: I would hazard to guess that Sargon got the nod, sorry, I mean prod (or probe?). * * * * *

 | | Susan Freeman: Steve is very , very busy.
There is much work being done.
<Miss S> sorry but not a good time to answer your beck and call. It is all good. |
|
Apr-06-21
 | | MissScarlett: When will this work come to fruition? |
|
Apr-06-21
 | | jessicafischerqueen:
<MissScarlett>
<When will this work come to fruition?> It will fruit, you heard it here first. Ok second. If you give in to impatience, you are sure to end up feeling torchard. |
|
Apr-06-21
 | | OhioChessFan: Once it fruits, I'll write an epic pome about the triumph. |

 | | jessicafischerqueen:
<Ohio> heh... we can trust Ohio State Fair and Buttercow veterans to come up with a signature fruit pun. Reminds me of the time the cops busted up our local Agricultural Fair, telling us all to kumquatly or they'd send in the root squad. |
|
Apr-06-21
 | | OhioChessFan: <jessicafruitqueen>, I've always found women who enjoy puns to be full of passion fruit. I'd like to date such a person, but no long term commitment. I cantaloupe. That's the longan short of it. |

 | | Susan Freeman: So not to sound too mysterious.......
There is nothing finite or measurable about the CG work. The site has an old infrastructure that needs to be brought into the current century. Think of the foundation like an old antique. If one part breaks, technically, another replacement will be impossible to find. The tradition and the integrity of the site must be preserved,
and stabilized all the while upgrading the very foundation it is built on. Nothing has been done since Daniel's death and not much was done before.
I think Danny always thought he could give it a quick fix and "rig it". If this site is to live on, it must be brought into the here and now.
So if a server breaks, it can be an easy fix. hackers can be blocked, etc. So it is not always as simple as "let's see the results"....this move is essential behind the scenes work, because the gears are rusty. I do not want much to be changed about CG,
just the technology HAS to be upgraded. And fast. (It has become a patchwork of patches and fixes and tape. ) That isn't working in 2021. This is a HUGE task, but not impossible, and we are doing it. Thank you all for your understanding.
PS Olga also needs to have a final test. It is now Aria, for some reason. :) |

 | | MissScarlett: How do you know it's a huge task if there's nothing measurable about the CG work? |
|
| Apr-07-21 | | Sokrates: Time for a Dada poem. Hugo Ball wrote this in 1917, 104 years ago. I think we should let these glorious words of wisdom amalgamate with our minds. KARAWANE

|
Apr-07-21
 | | Susan Freeman: <MissS> because it is ongoing and never complete even when the giant’s share is done. |
|
Apr-07-21
 | | MissScarlett: But how will you know when the lion's share is done? Do you have any independent means of assessing progress or are you relying on the person(s) doing the job? |
