MissScarlett: <A hospital employee in Italy has been accused of skipping work on full pay for 15 years, local media report.

The man is alleged to have stopped turning up to work at the Ciaccio hospital in the southern city of Catanzaro in 2005.

He is now being investigated for fraud, extortion and abuse of office, Italian news agency Ansa reports.

He was reportedly paid €538,000 (£464,000) in total over the years he is thought not to have been working.>

Willber G: <fabelhaft: I know it has been mentioned before, but February 15th it was decided that the Candidates would be resumed April 19th, and since then they have been playing. Still says the tournament "is to be resumed at a later date" here. It is after all the most important tournament since 2018...>

Yeah, it's not exactly going to attract new members to the site.

Susan Freeman: Sargon is on it. ( He is in charge of the porn.) The tournament has been up, just the date not changed. There are comments on it.

I know that, but if someone visits the site and sees the out-of-date headline, they won't. Also, they won't know that <Sargon is on it> so will probably go elsewhere and stay there.

Diademas: One of the features that drew me to this site in the first place was the Live Game coverage.
We are now in the finishing stage of the Candidates Tournament, and there is no signs of any comeback of this feature.

If this site has any ambitions of being a relevant contributor to the contemporary chess scene, and not just an historic record, features like the live coverage and updates of tournaments must be priority #1.

While <Sargon> is occupied with his pivotal task of being <in charge of the porn>, I would suggest recruiting some devoted soul to be in charge of the daily running. And maybe treat them a bit better than the previous holder of this office.

Do you give your blessing to my proposed <Smoke R Joynt>?

  jessicafischerqueen:

What about sending <Sargon> on an important mission to an island where there is no internet connection, and then hiring a more "traditional" employee. The kind who gets money, and works when he's told- instead of when he feels like it every six months or so.

Just throwing that out there.

heh I saw what you did there...

Unacceptable. I have reported you to Elon Musk and several other "brilliant" maniacs.

Enjoy your trip to mars.

gezafan: Well, I filed a complaint against Larryfyffe for a post he made on the Rogoff page. People insult each other there all the time but in this case Larryfyffe claimed I support illegal acts of violence. I don't and never said I did.

I'm all for free speech and appreciate that this site allows it but that's going too far. Most of us know that Larryfyffe is nuts but some people might believe what he said.

Tabanus: All the posters on Rogoff page are nuts.

<CG> FYI, your Tournament Index is being flooded with "chessgames.com historical chess event"s such as the Italian Championship semifinal (1970).

MissScarlett: Who is doing the flooding?

Tabanus: Stonehenge & Co. methinks. Perhaps it's just as well. They could have added New In Chess Classic (2021) though, rather than Bavaria-North Italy (1955).

perfidious: <Tabanus....chessgames.com historical chess event"s such as the Italian Championship semifinal (1970)....>

This is risible--I rather doubt any of the participants would agree with this--more likely they would bust a gut laughing at the thought, if still alive.
