OhioChessFan: <We could add the move number and the last couple of moves, when kibitzing Opening Explorer links. Is that what you're asking for?>

<Missy> has a better handle on it than I do, but here goes:

I want to create links, probably housed in my profile, but regardless. I want to create a link to a specific move in the Opening Explorer. I want to be able to attach a name of my choosing to said link. As an example, let's say we are playing a correspondence game. It's my 5th move with White. Here's a chessgames.com link to White's 5th move in a Slav.

Opening Explorer

I want to be able to name that link, with no fuss, no muss, create it right on the OE pagesomething like:

WhiteVersuspetemcdMy5thmove

petemcd85: <waddayaplay: In the opening explorer, if you click 1.e4 then C5, it always hangs for at least 10 seconds. It doesn't do this for any other position or moves. It might be a cashing issue.>

Just tried it, had no problems. What device and browser are you using?

Got it. I'll add it to the enhancement list on my profile page. This week I'll be working on getting some of the enhancements done.

OhioChessFan: I've been considering the New Player page, and think I get why it's so clunky. Probably 25% of the page is a messy recitation of their most common openings. I guess that's fine, but I can't imagine that information is worth 25% of the space allotted to their personal information. That's what is the primary source of the typical page's clunkiness.

MissScarlett: <Probably 25% of the page is a messy recitation of their most common openings.>

The Repertoire Explorer feature hasn't been changed in size or style and looks the better for it - why can't <Most Played Openings> follow suit?

And what's happened to the (where applicable) <Notable Games>, <Notable Tournament>, <Game Collections> and <Games Annotated by X> sections?

In the biography section, the DODs are now missing.

And why was the typeface changed?

MissScarlett: I really need the facility to DM the mysterious User: drantos to insist all submitted games are properly numbered, i.e., <1. 2. 3., etc.> not <1 2 3> - a PGN containing the latter will be uploaded but will not show on the board. At first, this concerned only the occasional game, but now it's prevalent. It's as if the games are being copied/transferred from different sources or by different methods. Annoying and time consuming to fix. Stop!
Mar-20-23  stone free or die: Just run all the PGN uploads through SCID (comand line scripted version), and use the canonically formatted output.

  MissScarlett: Carlsen vs Grischuk, 2017

Not sure if I've noticed this before. Why does <+ 0-1> not show in <PGN4web>? Remind me, why can't Olga support this score?

I believe he put the players page on hold while he works on the game page to have Live Games up for the WCC

<stone free or die: Just run all the PGN uploads through SCID (comand line scripted version), and use the canonically formatted output.>Thanks <Z> we're looking into SCID and see how we can implement it.

If you keep going, those 2 same moves continue along their separate paths of 29 and 6 moves respectively.

  fredthebear: Here's what's whack -

No surprise to see Z stone free attacking members in this forum. Z apparently gets to judge and smear everyone out in the open without consequence. Z whoever will always be harassing others for the negative attention, and to manipulate the website. It's gone on for years and years. This is WRONG.

We can smell the return of Z's sock puppets this spring to seek revenge, although present priority is the manipulation of the activities of the Bistro.

MissScarlett: This is what happens when games are submitted AND processed without due diligence:

https://www.chessgames.com/nodejs/g...

Mar-23-23  stone free or die: Looks like the parser doesn't do an automatic reset on encountering the <[Event]> tag, nor does it recognize the common mistake <½-½> (instead of correct <1/2-1/2>) at the end of the two drawn games.

SCID recognizes it and flags it as a mistake.

(I've seen parsers that recognize it and correct it - debate-ably the best strategy.)

Mar-23-23  stone free or die: Here's another one:

I have a post, try posting it, but it gets flagged as "Too Long".

OK, that's reasonable, I break it up in two, shot off the first post then....

Immediately paste the deleted second half into the second post - go to post and get

<Please Do Not Flood the Forum>

message... can't win for trying!

<I just renewed my premium subscription to Chessgames.com. I have enjoyed using Chessgames.com every day this past year. It is a great value for the money. — Lynn Rutherford, Chicago> - I also enjoyed using Chessgames.com, getting b& for minor misdemeanors, while non-paying visitors are spamming all day along, sockpuppets are raging wild, and <perfy>-like asㅤsholes (the real violators of this cess pit) are not getting spanked, ever.
