Apr-11-23
 | | MissScarlett: What's the point of copyright here? If they steal our stuff, are we upset or flattered? |
|
| Apr-11-23 | | stone free or die: RE: PGN
Do people like a space after the period in the PGN? Who decided that should be the default format? I don't.
Chess24 and CT might use it, but ChessBase, NIC, 365chess, and chess.com don't. |
|
Apr-11-23
 | | MissScarlett: It's not the default. Lots of games here don't use it. My PGN viewer, ChessPad 2, which I use to manually input games, does have it. I'm agnostic on the issue. What is getting my goat is a double space between the move numbers. Looks as if I'll have to edit them out of every WC match game. |

The issue is when we remove the time handle commands(comments) from the pgn source. We'll update the code to format the score as intended.( 1. e4 e5 2. ... ) |

| Apr-11-23 | | zanzibar: Are the 403 errors I've been getting today some deliberate business on <CG>'s end? . |
|
| Apr-12-23 | | stone free or die: (I'm able to post again, the 403's have (temporarily?!) subsided. If <CG> fixed this, then thanks). |

|
| Apr-12-23 | | stone free or die: I had a technical post about an easy technique for reformatting PGN but have been prevented from posting it by technical difficulties which I well suspect are on <CG>'s end. Tant pis for <CG> then. |

 | | stevemcd87: "technical post"s may be difficult due to the firewall. It thinks you are trying to hack the system. Feel free to email it to us. We recently updated the score of the live game to be a max of 14ply long, after removing all comment: https://www.chessgames.com/nodejs/g... |

| Apr-13-23 | | stone free or die: <Steve> by technical, I wasn't copying code or math formulas in the post - just describing in English how to operate SCID. But are you confirming the 403's are on your end? It would be nice to know, e.g. that there's no interceptor between us botching the works up. Curious that a simple post would trigger the firewall. It wasn't even a long post. Also, I find it curious that you're asking me to email you the post. Why? Because if it triggered your filtering I would hope you'd keep a copy of it for forensics and audit purposes. Sure, if it were a buffer overflow attempt, or a DoS you have be forced to simply throttle it to save space, but this was maybe 5x retries of a simple post. Like I said, it's getting curiouser and curiouser. Thanks. |

We've added the ability to use Olga to review Stockfish analysis( https://www.chessgames.com/analysis... ). You can find a link to the new feature on an analysis page( analysis of move 1...? ).

| Apr-19-23 | | stone free or die: Quick technical problem:
Found this link using google:
Gyula Breyer
It works.
Using the <Previous kibitzing> button, gives this page: [unknown player] Doesn't work (and it's not an unknown player - it's the kpage stuff throwing it off). It should work, especially given I'm just using features on the page <CG> returned to me. 403 yesterday, 404 today. |
