| Apr-25-19 | | Nisjesram: <chessgames.com: <Nisjesram> thank you, but next time please don't quote that sort of thing> Oh, ok.
In <rogoff> forum , we are so used to posts of <big pawn> , sometimes we forget how offensive , shocking and inappropriate they would occur to others. Will not happen again because I am of the opinion that we should help admins create a harmonious environment on this site. My apologies.
Regards.

 | | Stonehenge: Uploaded games from Reggio Emilia 1958/59 appear in the db as Reggio Emilia /59. Can you stop doing that please? Also if an editor makes a change in the event or site field, it would be nice if the software doesn't change capital letters into small letters, e.g. Open into open. |

| Apr-26-19 | | thegoodanarchist: OK, Can we all be honest here? I am going to speak bluntly. The Quote of The Day needs upgrading.
I don't blame the fine folks working here now. It needed upgrading when Daniel was with us. And for years. God bless Daniel, but he was overworked.
Looks like he set up a loop on chess quotes, that persists to this day. And he may have set it up 10 years ago! Or more?!?!? Anyway, I've seen the same Fischer quote about nice guys and tough players approximately 17,083 times. Here's a suggestion! Incorporate more quotes from modern times. I am NOT suggesting deleting old quotes in the rotation! New users of course should see Jose Raul Capablanca bragging on his ability! This is critical in the development of beginners. They must learn that Capablanca is a natural talent, much better than they ever will be! Humiliation starts at home. <Jose Raul Capablanca Who is better? What will happen? Why is your pawn doomed to be my sex slave? You figure it out, idiots. I know it!> These classic quotes have made all of us better. Or, either better or worse. The point is, ... HERE'S MY POINT!!!
Svidler made a nice, witty comment today. This day! We can all enjoy it. We all SHOULD enjoy it. In perpetuity! Here is his quote:
<Svidler: "I would be expelled from the Pioneer’s Palace for this game!"> Let's get it in the rotation! Even better, put a link to the game with the quote!!! Free tip. You will double your revenue with my tip. Thank me with a free membership for life. Svidler vs M Vachier-Lagrave, 2019 |

| Apr-27-19 | | john barleycorn: I would like to thank the CG admin/moderator who deleted my "bio section". Sure, very stylish to do so and a business attitude NOT to inform the "victim"/"customer" ... well, <Susan Freeman>, you may have approven of that or not ... but it looks like a showcase of p..s poor management. |

|
| Apr-27-19 | | Nisjesram: Do you know what is going on here , <johnbarleycorn> ? Do you remember when <big pawn> was temporarily suspended for the first time ? At that time , there were some people who were sympathizing with <big pawn> - mostly the people who identified with his political philosophy very enthusiastically. <big pawn> kept on being petulant , being nuisance (to put it charitably) for a long , long time while admins kept on indulging him stoically. Finally, it became completely untenable for anyone to sympathize with <big pawn> when inevitable happened - when he was suspended again. Is the same thing going to happen with you ?
How many times admins and others ask you to fix your 'bio ' ? And it has been many, many months now. Just saying .....
Cheers :)

 | | jessicafischerqueen:
Just a reminder- the <Opening Explorer> is still not able to show full games in the database if you type in all the moves of a given game into the "move box." This is a significant problem- it means that when we upload a new game into the PGN Upload Utility, we have no idea if we are submitting a duplicate game. Without being able to use the <Opening Explorer> to check this, we would literally have to play through <every single game in the chess.com database> in order to be sure we are not uploading a duplicate game. |

No, I do not know. Do owners, admins and moderators know? Well, I don't know either. Maybe, they know but they keep it secret. But I am glad to have somebody like you who knows.
Now enlighten us all, master.
Namaste.

 | | Annie K.: Sorry folks, the live game is up now.
<Jess> Yes, we are aware of the Opening Explorer needing work. As long as you don't see the site transferred to https, we are still concentrating on that project, and there is no need to repeatedly alert us to the OE issue. We haven't forgotten it. :) Meanwhile please use the Advanced Search, that can help you to locate games fairly easily, with a significant variety of options to narrow down the search (names and colors of the players, exact year, exact number of moves, ECO code, etc.), and it also won't be any problem at all if you do submit games we already have. The software will simply reject them. |
|
| Apr-29-19 | | Count Wedgemore: Thanks for fixing the live game issue, <Annie>. |
