<cu8sfan> No worries mate, I am sure your calculations are as precise as Swiss watches. :)

Swiss watches can get broken too. Watch out cu8sfan, I've got the CIA on the case ;)

Feb-06-06  cheski: <cu8sfan: There was a time when you would be kibitzer number one or two with 4000 posts, and now you need over 2300 just to make the top 40 list...>

With these ludicrously high numbers, one or two saws spring to mind:

Never mind the quality, feel the width ??

Or: In der Beschrankung, zeigt sich der Meister?

(Pardon my French).

Feb-07-06  Bobak Zahmat: <cus8fan> Hi, when are the drawings of lots in Linares?
Feb-07-06  Bobak Zahmat: <cus8fan> I saw on <lostemperor> forum you have predicted Radjabov as the tale runner :) I was quite surprised by this. I think he will surprise us all with his performance!

cu8sfan: <Bobak Zahmat><Hi, when are the drawings of lots in Linares?> I have no idea. All information I have is on http://www.moreliachess.com/eng/Lin.... It will probably be one day before the event.

<I saw on <lostemperor> forum you have predicted Radjabov as the tale runner> Well, someone's got to finish last and I picked Radjabov for various reasons, not the least of which is the fact that I just don't like him. Sorry. I think Vallejo-Pons will surprise us.

Feb-08-06  Jafar219: <cu8sfan:I just don't like him> Why?

cu8sfan: I'm not sure. It may have to do with the strategy he chose when he was playing for the World Cup in Libya 2004. I know I may be stupid but there are players I like for whatever reasons and others I don't particularly like.
Feb-08-06  percyblakeney: The reasons to like or not like certain players are seldom totally logical in my own case... Speaking of Radjabov, he wasn't a top 40 player when he reached the semi-final (by playing many draws), while Kramnik won Linares the same year, mainly through playing shorter draws than Radjabov. I guess the result comes first, especially when you're up against better players and know that draws will help you... But hopefully there will be many interesting games in Linares!

cu8sfan: I'm getting ready for the prediction contest for Linares (2006). If you want to participate please read the rules in my profile and on page one of this forum.

There's one important change of rule: Rule 2 is void. You don't have to be a participant in the first three rounds in order to participate. However I'd appreciate you only post predictions if you intend to post for all rounds.

Feb-13-06  Montreal1666: <cu8sfan> Hi, Do you know the pairing for the first round?

cu8sfan: Not yet, I suppose they'll draw the lots at the opening ceremony. I'm keeping an eye on the official site: http://www.moreliachess.com/eng/Lin...
Feb-13-06  Bobak Zahmat: It doesn't matter what the draw of lots will be, I predict a win for Topalov in the first game :)

cu8sfan: <It doesn't matter what the draw of lots will be> Actually, as this is a double round robin it really doesn't matter for <YouRang>'s parsing software and you may well go ahead and post all pairings with your results. From a psychological standpoint however you may want to predict the outcome of a game differently, depending on different criterias like if the game is early or late in the tournament, or whom a player had to face a round earlier etc.
Feb-13-06  Bobak Zahmat: Ofcourse it does matter what the lots will be. But actually for Topalov it is just an exception :). Because like in San Luis, Topalov will score enough points at the beginning to draw his last games.
Feb-13-06  Bobak Zahmat: Anyhow <cus8fan>, now Anand isn't participating someone else should fight till the end for the first place together with Topalov. Mostly likely it will be Ivanchuk or Svidler.
Feb-13-06  mymt: sorry <cu8sfan> I thought that once I had pedicted the final result of a tournament that was it. I didnt realize that I was meant to also guess the out come of each game in every round.

I just went off & did my thing then checked back when it was all over to see who won. [bit like placing a bet on a horse race or buying a raffle ticket]

sorry about that.

Feb-13-06  yalie: when are the pairings going to come out? since it is a DRR, can I give out my predictions regardless of the round?
Feb-13-06
Premium Chessgames Member
cu8sfan: <yalie> Yes, you can, if you think the order in which the games are played does not matter. Please also respect the posting rules posted some ten posts earlier.

cu8sfan: <all> I can't believe these Mexicans can't publish the playing schedule on time... I just like to let you know that if the schedule isn't out at least an hour before round one begins I will not count predictions for round one. I'm very sorry about this. Anyone who can point me to a schedule, please do. This (http://www.moreliachess.com/eng/Lin...) official "site" sucks!
Feb-17-06  kolobok: linares first 3 rounds i predict all draws get me on record cu8sfan 1/2 for all games in first 3 rounds.
