Dec-02-07 | | refutor: you're not a real popular guy around here lately :) congrats on the hunting |
Dec-02-07 | | whiteshark: In sporting terms the competition has got tougher. Keep your shirt on! |
Dec-02-07
 | | WannaBe: In another sporting terms, congratulations, you're the <NEW New York Yankees> (everyone hates you now... =) |
Dec-03-07
 | | cu8sfan: Thank you all!
<NakoSonorense: As a kid trying to learn the capitals of the world, I always used to get Switzerland and Sweden mixed up ("Suiza" and "Suecia" in Spanish). Maybe they're not that different, after all...> Yeah, the average American has problems with it, too. Whenever I tell them I'm from Switzerland they're thinking Abba. I don't blame them, the average European wouldn't know Idaho and Iowa, either. <WannaBe: In another sporting terms, congratulations, you're the <NEW New York Yankees> (everyone hates you now... =)> But I'm just a Cub!? I think it was Napoleon who said "It is not enough that I succeed - everyone else must fail." O, great! Now you'll hate me even more... |
Dec-03-07
 | | WannaBe: Let's not include Illinois and Indiana in there... That'll really confuse everyone. |
Dec-03-07 | | Chess Classics: <the average European wouldn't know Idaho and Iowa, either.> Man alive, trying to explain the concept of Iowa to a European was bloody impossible, especially in France where I was on my second language. It's kinda, sorta, not really close to Chicago. No, not a suburb, I live 250 miles away from Chicago. No, it's not Ohio. Any big cities? Well, Saint Louis is, let's see, 2 and a half hours south of the border. Minneapolis is about an hour north of the border. What's it like? Uh, hot, full of corn... Eventually, I just went with "Chicago".

 | | cu8sfan: "Paper Tiger", I'm stumped. |
Dec-05-07
 | | cu8sfan: Thanks <krpvksprv> for solving it. I may go back to work in peace now. (-: By the way, you must also be a victim of the great baltic vowel drought of 1923. (-: |
Dec-05-07 | | Chess Classics: 3 puzzles?! 3 puzzles!!
Hey, but yesterday, you want to the bathroom 56 times. Slightly suspicious! =) Regards,
CC |
Dec-05-07 | | NakoSonorense: <Chess Classics> cu8sfan has solved FOUR puzzles, not three. The last one was really easy. Pity I didn't even have a chance to solve it. Just a couple of weeks ago, I was reading The Code Book by Simon Singh. He dedicates a whole chapter to cryptograms and how the Arabs cracked them in the 1st millenium. |
Dec-05-07 | | Chess Classics: Oh, right.
As I said, <4> puzzles?! 4!! Regards,
CC |

Dec-05-07
 | | cu8sfan: <I was reading The Code Book by Simon Singh> What an excellent book! The clue I'd be most proud of having found would be "chessgames.com/perl/chessgame?gid=n where n is a 7 digit palindromic prime number." For the German speaking members of this site, the new edition of the NZZ Folio is very fitting. It's about puzzles: http://www.nzzfolio.ch/www/dada0e91.... |
Dec-05-07
 | | Open Defence: how did you ever crack the palindrome clue ? by chance ? did you weed through the database ?? |
Dec-05-07
 | | cu8sfan: <did you weed through the database ??> Exactly. |
Dec-05-07
 | | Open Defence: wow impressive :) btw hows Leopard coming along better now or still buggy ? |
Dec-05-07
 | | cu8sfan: Much better now, I am very happy. There's a version 10.5.1 out now and Leopard is working stable and satisfactorily. Not as fast though as it used to be but my Computer is a little old. Some friends have also had problems with Leopard in the beginning so make sure to back everything up before installing. Time Machine is an excellent feature. I don't use Spaces because with Expose you can't see all your windows, just the ones in one space. At last, address book is fully searcheable and very well integrated into iCal and Mail. |
Dec-05-07
 | | Open Defence: cool maybe I will upgrade to 2GB Ram and only then get Leopard |
Dec-05-07
 | | cu8sfan: That might be a good idea. You can never have enough RAM anyway. |
Dec-13-07
 | | WannaBe: I know you've posted before, on how you don't keep track of the off-season player/personnel movements... http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/... |
Dec-13-07
 | | cu8sfan: <WannaBe> Well, thanks anyway. How's his fastball? (-: |
Dec-15-07 | | suenteus po 147: <cu8sfan> Thanks for both games in the recent tournament! It was a pleasure to play against you. |
Dec-15-07
 | | cu8sfan: <suenteus po 147: <cu8sfan> Thanks for both games in the recent tournament! It was a pleasure to play against you.> Thank you. I enjoyed our games as well, even though I had to take quite a few time outs recently. |
Dec-16-07 | | ahmadov: Thanks for challenging me... I hope we will enjoy the game... |
Dec-18-07 | | cheski: Hello <cu8sfan>
I only just now discovered the CG puzzles. Five wins? Homeric. Will you be my 'second'? (Joke. I'm not going to take part). |
Dec-18-07
 | | cu8sfan: <cheski> Yes, I've been lucky a couple of times. But <aphasia> managed to win five even faster. And the puzzles he solved were harder. The clues game is very addictive and great fun. It will be over soon, though. |
