 | | SwitchingQuylthulg: <moronovich> Good luck for the exciting first round! I'm always a bit worried about going all in in round 1, without any indication of the form the players are in ;-) |

Jan-12-13
 | | moronovich: Thanks <Switch> ! And good luck to you too.And I am with you on this one about the uncertainty re the first round. But I find it comforting that the odds are higher too ! Like in other competions a good start is half the succes IMO, so we do have reasons to be nervous ;) See you up the road. |

 | | perfidious: <SQ> Seems to me that particular prop would have been off the board. A number of 500-1 would not have been enough. |

| Mar-22-13 | | achieve: Heya, <moronovich>! - I noticed you are quite on the ball following the candidates, and I wanted to ask you after 6 rounds of play now: Can you put as much as a cigaret paper between Aronian and Carlsen? I mean Carlsen has played very well, Carlsen himself wasn't entirely happy with some of the games, especially vs Ivanchuk, but Aronian seems by no means Carlsen's inferior, strength and form wise... Before it all started I expected Carlsen to quite comfortably outpace the Armenian, but it seems Aronian himself is setting the blistering pace! If one of them wins with White, tomorrow, it will amount to a +4 score at the halfway point, which is in fact mindblowing. All were expecting a +4 to win after 14 rounds of play, not after 7! Next week there will be the clash between them, Carlsen White, and to be honest I think in order to ensure a finish as the sole leader, he must win that encounter -- if they draw, then, as I said, it is tough to pick a winner since Aronian is so strong at the moment. Never seen him this strong before, and in the pressconferences he is extremely at ease, funny, yet super sharp, and does not appear to be vulnerable to pressure of any kind - although next week it will be mounting, and it will keep increasing towards the end; quite a unique situation for both. |
|
| Mar-22-13 | | achieve: Did I say next week??!!
Mags and Levon will play on Sunday!
That is absolutely fabulous.... Two days from now, as in 48 hours, almost exactly ;) |

 | | moronovich: Hi <achieve> !
Nice to see you as a welcome guest in my room again.
And I agree. We are witnessing an encounter as interesting as ever.
The twohorse-race between Aronian and Magnus is on and is nervewrecking and thrilling as if ordered by Caissa herself! So perhaps for the sake of chess a draw would be the best result
on sundays crucial game !? Though I am huge fan of Magnus. But as a player and a person I like Aronian very much.
His sharpness and wit as you expressed too.Not to forget his humour, which should be quite legendary among colleques. I dont know if I could "put a cigarette paper" ;) between the 2,but all exitement aside : Magnus having the white would make him a 68% to pass through to Anand vs 28 to Aronian
(the remaining 4% to Kramnik and others).Carlsen all in all a bit stronger, generally,IMO. But all thing equal we have a uniqe situation which I hope will last longer and I am happy you and me can share this together so please feel free to enter my little room during the remaining tournament. For now it is dinner and then off to watch a crucial footballgame, which is last call for the national team. See you around, enjoy and take care !
BTW,isn´t sunday the first day in the new week, so you ,technically speaking, were right about,"next week" ?? |
|
| Mar-23-13 | | achieve: <But all thing equal we have a uniqe situation which I hope will last longer and I am happy you and me can share this together so please feel free to enter my little room during the remaining tournament.> Well - I'm looking forward to it, <moro>, and thanks for the kind words. Today I will not be at home for the first few hours of the round, but I do hope to immerse in it from about 5pm onwards. I think Holland played Estonia last night but I dont follow the football closely outside of the big matches/tournaments. Did Denmark make it? <BTW,isn´t sunday the first day in the new week, so you ,technically speaking, were right about,"next week" ??> Perhaps, but honesty compels me to say that I ever since I can remember regard the "week-end" to include both Saturday and Sunday, and the "work week" to be the start of the week on Monday. But it is true that historically in many cultures is considered to be the starting day of the week. Hope to see you later in the afternoon when I need to catch up on the first few hours of the round. ;) I too think Lev will hold the draw though, just a gut feeling, but secretly I hope Carlsen will fully step on the gas, and just play one heck of a game. Perhaps one for the ages. If Levon can hold against that force than of course it makes perhaps even more exciting. But if I root for Magnus, then yes, I hope for a classic, though ending 1-0. |

 | | moronovich: Goodd noon <achieve> ! Just had a brief listening to Oscar, over at Whoostas and I enjoyed it,though I am not near your expertice in this area. But could we say that he makes it look and sound so effortlessly like when Magnus performs his magic on another instrument !?.. You are very welcome and I have the day off.So if nothing unexpected comes along I´ll be here (and there;)-
really enjoying Trent,Short and friends.
So long "old chap" ! |
|
| Mar-23-13 | | achieve: <But could we say that he makes it look and sound so effortlessly like when Magnus performs his magic on another instrument !?..> hehe - yes, good one.... Hope to be back online at about 5pm, and in fact I do expect at least one white win for LA and/or MC - they will be glancing at eachothers boards. |
|
| Mar-23-13 | | achieve: Just got back, but unable to make much of the position against Radja....yet! Looks imbalanced, but rather equal, fwiw... Still a lot of play left, and need to let it sink in, but a heap of work left to create winning chances, is my initial feeling... |
