| Dec-07-16 | | virginmind: Heya! London tournament ahead with a very exciting participation (less we-know-who) but I only entered the result prediction contest and I don't know how much time I will have to follow the games, as I have work to do.
Weather here acceptable for this time of the year so far, not much snow at all and not very cold but of course winter is long and you never know when I'll have to clean up the snow in front of where I live.
Preparing a symposium for Friday and then I'll have to finish some additional job related stuff. Haven't got the chance to buy Christams presents as yet but looking forward to.
Health-wise it's pretty good, no dizziness, just the usual headaches. Life is cool.
And a fine Wednesday for you! |
|
Dec-09-16
 | | moronovich: Good morning 1
Good to see you in da house again !
All is well here.Wife is to a cristmasparty with her colleuges and I enjoy being on my own,London Classic considered ;)The christmasgifts to her is bought, she gets a lot!,and it is a very nice feeling to be ahead of schedule. Good to hear your dizziness is absent.Very good. And perhaps your headache(s) will vanish some day in the
the nearer future !? And hopefully your symposium will succeed. Weather is mild and sunny which suits my temper. And London comming up in a few hours...!? A very different kettle of fish, compared to the big match we witnessed a few days ago.May the chessbug go in our vains...If convinient ;) With these word I once again wish you all the best for the weekend just ahead of us.Virginterritory. See you at London !?
Ciao ! |
|
| Dec-13-16 | | virginmind: Hi, I am low positioned in London's betting contest, but some of the games look pretty cool (not to mention they don't charge to follow live video with commentary, like last month in NY). Tomorrow evening Denmark will play Romania for a place in the semifinals of the Women's European Handball Championship. They need to concentrate, forget the tireness and then they'll win. Piece of cake ;) |
|
Dec-14-16
 | | moronovich: Hi and good morning !
Yes a big clash between our countries tonight ! "Piece of cake" right !? ;)But you have got a certain Neagu who can decide it all in your favour...but if we can keep her around 8-9 goal we may have a decent chance...May the best team win.But unfortunately I cant follow due to a meeting. London is cool and due to Topalovs bad form it seems like almost everyone has a winning chance:)The coverage is fine
and we are as customers treated very well.Yaz is as always a gentle and inspiring host. Cristmas preparations are going smooth here and the sunnny and cold weather reminds us about december spirit. Take care and see you up the road.
På gensyn !
And how about your Christmas preparations ? |
|
Dec-14-16
 | | moronovich: Bonus question:
How many paintings did Van Gogh sell, while he was alive ? |
|
| Dec-14-16 | | virginmind: Ha ha, notice I didn't say for whom it will be a piece of cake ;) Of course, for the one team which will concentrate better and keep better stamina up to the end. Out of the top of my head I'd say Van Gogh sold no paitings during his lifetime, but I'll have to check with Google. Was I right? Christmas preparations running smoothly as planned here too. No snow so far, just cold, and it's likely getting warmer, but we'll see. Yes I agree, London tournament is quite lovely and providing a somewhat intimate atmosphere. The two commentators are great also. Poor Topalov, obviously in bad form. See you around. |
|
| Dec-14-16 | | virginmind: See? What did I tell you? Piece of cake :) Bravo Denmark! |
|
Dec-15-16
 | | moronovich: Has just finished the last chritsmas cards as well as all the gifts are bought ! Being ahead of schedule is a nice feeling for a dizzy man...:) And thank you for the cake ! It tasted very good and what I saw from the first half(had a meeting later) our ladies/girls played very well and it gonna be very thrilling to follow them
in the last game(s?).Hope your squad took it well... London is just to start and put some money on Wesley.Or perhaps rather:on a Topalov loss ):/:) Actually Van Gogh sold around 100 paintings. When he worked in an art gallery at the age of 15 !
But in his short entire life he only sold one,1,that he made himself.
That was a trickquestion and can be used as a little partyteaser.Sorry, couldn´t resist :) It is getting colder by now and I hope for some good old fashioned snow. Take care meanwhile and I send you both
my best wishes. |
|
| Dec-18-16 | | virginmind: Hi! Well, it was to be yet another Topalov loss, and then another one! I think he's at his lowest rating in the past 15 years or so. On the other hand, So continues to show he has a great future. If you ask me, he already has a great present, with passing 2800+ and already winning the Grand Chess Tour 2016! And a very well behaved guy too - unlike some of his suporters, apparently. Very little snow here but quite cold. It's a quiet weekend. Not much reading&writing lately, although I should. Not even music listening. I prefer the net, which is not good at all, because this means laziness of mind&body. Change is needed. Thank you for the info regarding Van Gogh, I really was not aware of that.
And a great weekend (what's left of it) for you! |
|
Dec-19-16
 | | moronovich: Hi´
So(pun intended and not a difficult one:)London is over and we can look back upon a good fighting tournament IMHO.With Wesley looking as one who could challenge Carlsen in the near future. At least he seems to have the potential. As well as Kramniks opinion
about his strenght should matter.
The weekend was fine.Spending time with friends on sunday for an annual meeting on the irish pub.Now we are waiting for wify to conclude her final duties at her office (off at thirsday)and the hollydays can begin.Almost every Christmas stuff under control,as I mentioned. Weather is greyish.Kind of Londonstyle ;)And none of my beloved snow in sight ): And I agree that Wesley occurs as a very well behaved guy.And matured too, compared to his age supplied with a strong nervessystem is my impression as well. That is what the pen brought today.
Hope you will have the best chrismas preparations. And where will you celebrate the eve this year ? Sincerely og på gensyn ! |
|
| Dec-21-16 | | virginmind: Hi, Christmas preparations still going on, will celebrate home with the family as usual, then, when licence driver suspension period ends will go to Onesti to spend time with my wife's family.
Weather rather calm, almost no snow and not very cold lately - unlike it was predicted 2-3 weeks ago.
Few chess games over the net daily, tv watching, then spending time on the net on various forums&sites of interest, nothing else much. Of course, season's shopping. Much less music listening in the past months, for some reason, same with literature reading.
Maybe it's the age, maybe it's just laziness, or both or whatever. I feel fine, generaly. How bout you?
Cheers! |
|
Dec-22-16
 | | moronovich: Hi !
Thanks for your christmas card and good to hear you are feeling fine.Perhaps it is (not only)laziness, but the darker time of the year that requires another approach to daily life !? A bit like the bear staying in the den tilll spring finally arrives... Christmas preparations are progressing very well and for now it is almost only the luxury parts that remain. All cards are written and all gifts are bought as well as today I managed to
get the christmasa tree into our house.Which is a bit funny as I useed to sell them myselves for several years. And now being "on the amatuerish side of it".But it worked...Best of all is that wife came well and healthy on the other side of her her working duties. And finished on a high note.So tomorrow may be quite funny and relaxed. So let me wish you(both)a Merry Christmas with hopefully all the best energies within you and with your family! See you around !
p.s.: forgot to mention that I am also feeling fine and has mainly had some fine days lately. |
|
| Dec-23-16 | | virginmind: That's great!
Merry Christmas to you both and well deserved winter holidays!
Looks like no tournaments around to follow at this time of the year, or am I wrong - I think there used to be one around Dec. 30? But I'm probably confusing. Nothing else much to signal from here, just waiting for the hours to pass and summer time to arrive...:) Hugs to you both. |
|
Dec-24-16
 | | SwitchingQuylthulg: <moronovich> Merry Christmas! |
|
Dec-24-16
 | | Penguincw: Hi <moronovich>. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you. :) |
|
| Dec-26-16 | | virginmind: Aha, I knew there was something good these days: World Rapid& Blitz Championship 26-30 dec. in Doha. Looks like great fun! |
|
Dec-26-16
 | | moronovich: Hi !
Good you fund it ! And if I hadn´t been Christmas occupied I would have told you;)It is great fun,but it takes some bearing for me to get used to the female commentator(Well,it is a free ride for us who paid for the World Championship). Many players IMHO can win this, even Magnus after a shaky start ;)So enjoy and may be see you tomorrow !? All is fine here. Some details later.
And further Christmaswishes for you.
So long ! |
|
Dec-26-16
 | | FSR: Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you, <moronovich>! |
|
| Dec-27-16 | | virginmind: Get used to the female commentator - you dont like her? Or maybe her voice? I don't know her name but I find her cute, as about the voice, maybe a bit on the thin side but it's alright for me. Shaky start yesterday for Magnus but today he will likely recuperate. On the other side, the temporary leader Korobov lost against Aronian who, in turn, took the first place. Interesting development. |
|
Dec-27-16
 | | moronovich: Hi´!
I wont say I dont like her.But she is a bit too girly to my taste, but that may be my limitation...I am working on it and slightly getting used to her,it seems. And otherwise enjoing the broadcast and the tournamnet as such.A tournament that for the moment seems wide open,in the sense that many can win it.Good stuff over Christmas.Magnus just lost. Most likely rh big match has its price... Stay tuned! |
|
| Dec-27-16 | | virginmind: Yea a bit girlie, but why not for a change. Indeed Magnus lost again and now facing Jakovenko so far equal, heading for the endgame. Probably the world champion will push to get an advantage out of thin air, but lets see. |
|
Dec-27-16
 | | moronovich: <an advantage out of thin air, but lets see.> Seems like there often is alot of thin air around Magnus ;) And a lot of top encounters now and for the rest of the tournament.Tomorrow will likely be a flood of finals.Mamedyarov,Aronian and
Anand would be my pick right now.
But,yeah-let us see. |
|
Dec-27-16
 | | moronovich: Carlsen too,off course ;) |
|
Dec-27-16
 | | SwitchingQuylthulg: Nepo? He's a monster at fast time controls. |
