<MissScarlett> Congratulations on your narrow escape. Imagine if you were convicted, given that in fact Professor Plum was killed in the library with the wrench. Best to avoid Inspector Plods altogether if you can manage it, brah. |

I am trying to correct a game that had an incorrect score- one move was wrong. This is the game with correct score:
[Event "The Hague Olympiad"]
[Site "The Hague NED"]
[Date "1928.07.31"]
[Round "12"]
[Result "1/2-1/2"]
[White "Vladimir Petrov"]
[Black "Josef Rejfir"]

Be7 7. Rc1 O-O 8. cxd5 exd5 9. Bd3 Re8 10. Qc2 Nf8 11. O-O
Nh5 12. Bxe7 Qxe7 13. a3 Qd6 14. Na4 Re7 15. Nc5 g6 16. b4
Be6 17. a4 Rc8 18. Qd2 Rec7 19. Rc2 f6 20. Rfc1 Qe7 21. Ne1

Rxc6 31. Rxc6 Rxc6 32. Rxc6 bxc6 1/2-1/2
The incorrect score had one wrong move: 12...Qd7 instead of 12...Qxe7 But every time I try, the correct move is fixed, but the game score stops at move 14. Here is the game page: Petrov vs J Rejfir, 1928 The correct score will play with the pgnweb viewer, but not Olga. Olga cuts off the score after the 14th move. Please help me~! |

<<Missy> I'm no stranger to legal threats. Just last week I was outrageously implicated in an unfortunate accident when Professor Plum got his head caved in with a candlestick in the conservatory.> I know it's been said before, but it's worth noting again: <There's no disgrace in being arrested MissScarlett. Kings, prime ministers, archbishops, even barristers have stood in the dock.> To wit I mix my metaphors, sorta:
<Many's the good man before now drank out of the bottle> |

 | | Stonehenge: Steve, can you remove Player - PFUIMAC7P and Player - PPP0QQQPPP1QQQ from the <Players> correction slips. There have been dozens of these but I can't delete these two. This kind of nonsensical slips are probably due to a bug. Something else, I'm sure we want to see live games during the World Championship. Why not practice with a game from the FIDE Grand Swiss (2021)? |
|
Oct-29-21
 | | Tabanus: <Steve> Please restore the disappeared game Fischer vs Weinstock but with Black = Karl Vine, pid = 170304 (Karl Vine). I still don't know how to do this :( |
|
Oct-30-21
 | | MissScarlett: Is it obligatory to start off every request here with <Steve>? <Steve>, could you remove the duplicated <GOTD> on my list? |
|
Oct-30-21
 | | Tabanus: I can see why a deleted game should become a ghost game, so it can be restored. But (if possible) it should not block itself, or be counted in the stats. I should have created a new player first, and then changed to the new pid. |
|
Oct-30-21
 | | Stonehenge: You should have left Karl Vine alone in the first place. |
|
Oct-30-21
 | | Tabanus: <Stonehenge> I think we have to have two pages for some (very few) players. Did Steiner play Vine before the War? No, he played against "Weinstock". Similarly, Fischer vs Weinstock should be Fischer vs Vine. I'm pretty sure that few historians would like to publish a game such as Steiner vs Vine (1937). |
|
Oct-30-21 | | login:
The guy's identity qua birth is 'Weinstock' - this has not changed after emigration 'arbitrarily taking on' (for very good reasons) an American name in the process. 'Did Steiner play Vine before the War?'
'Vine' is a persona aquired chronologically later, so that question has no relevance. Inset: (now = Ivano-Frankivsk in western Ukraine) should read (today Ivano-Frankivsk, Ukraine). There's no reasons why Wikipedia keeps using wU here, as it is stated two sentences later as being (just) the (westerners') 'geographical and historical relative term', but not the factual country name. Normally in a database (containing identity records/entries) this player remains 'Weinstock' no matter what, with an additional redirect/note for the namechange to Vine (from 1940 on until his death). Exception of the rule, e.g. Garik Weinstein.
But you can pretty much do whatever you want (IMO a critical flaw on this site) as this project remains unattended, but please respect the name at birth as highest priority to whatever change/merger/delete/creation you ever come up with.
The much more interesting (general historical) viewpoint can be read e.g. here https://ancestralfindings.com/chang... https://www.nypl.org/blog/2013/07/0...
