WannaBe: Holy cow that was a long update process for the latest Win10 (PRO) August patch releases.

From start to finish, took my PC 2+ hours to complete, with 5 different reboots and my taskbar became transparent... Ugh.

WannaBe: The updates also screwed up my taskbar text colour, went from white to black and I couldn't see the clock/time.

Had to reset my settings on that, too. Ugh.

tpstar: <WannaBe> That was glorious to follow in real time.

In Michigan, we only had a partial eclipse, but a drug rep brought by a welding helmet with a visor for us to see it safely, which was amazing.

He also gave us some Moon Pies. ;>D

I think even <technical draw> have me beat by a few month. There are a lot of members who have been here (a lot) longer than I have. And they still log in. But don't comment/post.

I just post a lot =)))

Aug-22-17  thegoodanarchist: <tpstar> that's interesting - <Sneaky> is a member since Jan. 19, 2002, but kibitzed the first kibitz on that game the previous month, on Festivus of 2001, a month before.
Aug-22-17  technical draw: Oh, great! A wasting time competition. I'm in since Nov. 18, 2003. <Sneaky> has me beat though, sneaky fella.
Aug-22-17  technical draw: Ha! A New York Yankee sets another record! Read it and weep!:

<Hasta la vista, Bill Stoneman. Aaron Judge now holds the all-time single season record. 36 consecutive games with a strikeout.>

Aug-22-17  thegoodanarchist: I guess Stoneman's cavalry came, and tore up the tracks again.
Aug-22-17  technical draw: The LA Dodgers are on a pace to have the 6th highest all time regular season winning percentage. In modern times the last highest was the Seattle Mariners in 2001 with .716.

WannaBe: Had an interesting problem at work and it was resolved with the help of a co-worker...

The president of the company wants to setup a (sub) web page that is a bit different from all the other (world-wide) corporate web pages.

No problem, got a server installed Linux with Apache2, PHP and MySQL, piece of cake.

Put the server on the DMZ with a static IP, and got the public IP to the DNS so people (world-wide) can type in the name to access it. (e.g. Chessgames Home Page, instead of http://199.237.62.178)

The actual content of the web-pages are coming from a sister company in EU (Italy), so I also enabled SSH/FTP ports on the server.

Tested it internally, everything works, time to add this to the Firewall so it can be seen/accessed externally.

<No Go. Nada. Zilch.>

Blank, web-site can't be accessed. No response from server.

Double-Triple checked my Firewall settings, looked at the Network Address Translation (NAT) settings. Looked at the ports (http/https), everything is good.

Internally, everything is good. Externally, no Bueno.

Co-Worker pointed out to me that the Firewall setting for WAN -> DMZ for that server was not enabled. This is different from NAT, this is access rule.

Okay, just enable it, right? Error. Can't mix management (SSH) & non-management ports (http/https).

Grrrrrrr... Took out everything except allowing http(s). Page is up and running. Lesson learned.
