Aug-10-09 | | nuwanda:
not so easy for Moro today
...
(First by the way) |
Aug-10-09 | | redwhitechess: nice to watch so many GMs to play lower rated opponents. the live watching look perfect with this setup rather than seeing four hours of Gm vs Gm, hehehe. Go Hou! |
Aug-10-09 | | waustad: That's some Swiss when GM Jovanic didn't play on one of the top 24 boards in the first round. His 2541 Elo put him 33rd. The midpoint of ratings is around 2250. |
Aug-10-09 | | waustad: Korchnoi is probably playing in London so he doesn't have to play 2 rounds a day. |
Aug-10-09 | | Prugno: Plenty of interesting live games in the Open today. Sutovsky is getting dismembered with White by Anish Giri; a good old-fashioned King walk in Kuzubov-Vernay; Dreev and Portisch fighting it out in an endgame like they might have done 20 years ago; etc. etc. Looks like a great tournament; if they do it again, even without the Jubilee, I'd like to be there next year, since it's in the holiday season. |
Aug-10-09 | | Prugno: Maybe I was a bit too optimistic about Giri's attack: Sutovsky just took the Queen and it's not clear that Black has any more than a perpetual. |
Aug-10-09 | | Dredge Rivers: Not quite as strong a tournament as the 100th, 125th, and 150th anniversaries in 1909, 1934, and 1959.
Those were the days! |
Aug-10-09 | | waustad: <prugno>You can just hop on the train. For us on the other side of the pond that's more difficult. 25 years ago I used to go to tournaments and even play. Maybe after I retire in a couple of years. |
Aug-11-09 | | Ladolcevita: <houyifan>good luck!~!!!~~ |
Aug-11-09 | | PhilFeeley: Agopov seems to be trouncing Hou Yifan today.

Aug-11-09 | | jon01: What is happening? Morozevich, Meier, Harikrishna, Malaniuk and lot of other players are not paired in for the fifth round... |
Aug-11-09 | | parmetd: who got to play the world champs in simuls? |
Aug-11-09 | | nummerzwei: <jon01: What is happening? Morozevich, Meier, Harikrishna, Malaniuk and lot of other players are not paired in for the fifth round...> They're all taking a bye. (This won't be possible from rounds 6 to 9 according to the official site, so they're seizing the last opportunity). |
Aug-11-09 | | WhiteRook48: oh Moro will pull it out |
Aug-12-09 | | Ladolcevita: <furruR>
Isee, thanks, because I never heard Federer speak German... |
Aug-12-09 | | PhilFeeley: Wow! The Morozevich game today:

Aug-12-09 | | Prugno: The Moro game vs. Sandipan is as obscure as ever. |
Aug-12-09 | | malthrope: Moro is just simply amazing! ;) Tried to take a short nap during the early complications, but that was totally impossible! Miss the finish of this one? No way!! ~lol~ |
