Jan-05-10 | | visayanbraindoctor: <Kamsky playing better> Kamsky is playing this tournament aggressively. And he will probably play very sharply in the penultimate game, in order to catch up with Almasi. It would be a morale booster for him if he could turn out good tournament performances before the Candidates begin. All Almasi needs to do in order to get at least a tie for first is to draw his last two games, and so he will most likely play more solidly. |

Jan-05-10 | | znsprdx: sheesh where is everybody? - or is it truly believed that less than 2700 GM's can't play great Chess? |
Jan-05-10 | | aragorn69: Innovative interface. Lots of progress are still to be made in live games graphics and analysis. |

Kamsky-Bologan looking pretty wild...it is not too often you see GM's play like 'C' playersTry 'analysis mode- what a great feature FAR MORE INTERESTING THAN BEING FED COMPUTER ANALYSIS- since it has a cute feature.. you can instantly work out variations to test your level of understanding... Personally I thought 20.Rd1+ was worth a try |
Jan-05-10 | | znsprdx: <aragorn69:> the graphics are great....only thing missing is a FEN link and ideally the possibility of copy-pasting an analysis line |

Jan-05-10 | | randzo: is there world team championship broadcasting somewhere? |

Jan-05-10 | | PhilFeeley: Kamsky exchanged rooks and lost his c-pawn. Why did he do that? I now see hope for Bologan. |
Jan-05-10 | | visayanbraindoctor: Almasi vs Vocaturo is getting pretty sharp and tactical. I don't know what Kamsky is up to, but it doesn't look right. |
Jan-05-10 | | visayanbraindoctor: Brunello vs. Caruana had the latter sacrificing a piece for three pawns, and a very interesting position. |
Jan-05-10 | | visayanbraindoctor: Vocaturo found it too hard to defend his exposed King, and Almasi wins. It proved to be a tactical slugfest, not something safe and solid for Almasi. |
Jan-05-10 | | Bdellovibrio: This reminds me of the US Championship of last year, where Kamsky was undefeated but couldn't rack up as many wins as Nakamura. |
Jan-06-10 | | siamesedream: Last round: Kamsky - Almasi - interesting game. |
Jan-06-10 | | Karpova: Fabiano Caruana beat Landa in 25 moves. |
Jan-06-10 | | Karpova: Michele Godena beat Bologan!
But the other interesting result is Kamsky's win over Almasi - so they are tied for first (but I don't know the tie-break system used). |
Jan-06-10 | | kurtrichards: Kamsky - Almasi 1-0 |
Jan-06-10 | | Atking: Indeed Kamsky wins and Caruana did a pretty good tournament (If he didn't overpress vs Vocaturo it could be pretty challenging for the top) |
Jan-06-10 | | indianchessupdates: Gata Kamsky edged out Zoltan Almasi on tie-break after defeating him in the final round and catching him on 6.5/9. 1.Kamsky 2695 6½ Rp - 2782
2.Almasi 2704 6½ Rp - 2781
3.Caruana 2652 5½ Rp - 2700
4.Godena 2537 5½ Rp - 2713 |
Jan-06-10 | | znsprdx: <Karpova:...Caruana beat Landa in 25 moves.> You mean massacred <CG> Nice Monday(maybe Tuesday) problem exploiting the earler misguided 15...R[a]e8 a classic case of the wrong rook |
Jan-06-10 | | geeker: Congratulations to Gataulla!
Pretty good showing by the veteran Godena, keeping pace with Caruana. |
Jan-06-10 | | timhortons: Congrats GATA!
american players are lucky as year 2010 starts! |
Jan-08-10 | | Karpova: Final report: http://www.chessbase.com/newsdetail... Time control: <The rate of play was 100 minutes for 40 moves, then 50 minutes for the rest of the game, with 30 seconds increment given for each move from the start of the game.> |
Jan-08-10 | | Hiarcs: Well Kamsky just played well, for me, i specially admire when a player has to win his last game in order to clinch the tournament, in this case i liked that, i have always liked his style too. |
Jan-08-10 | | visayanbraindoctor: Nice win and a fine hat trick by GM Kamsky. All good tournament performances at this point should provide him a morale booster for the Candidates. Almasi, tying for first (even if placing second on SB), also did very well. Hope to see him in the top tournaments such as Corus A, Linares, Dortmund, and Tal in the future. |
