Apr-08-11  Maatalkko: <wordfunph> Yeah, I just said by 2020 to say sometime by then. It's completely possible that they win in 2014, 2016, or 2018. Probably not yet in 2012, but who knows.

HeMateMe: <chrisowen> Gosh, thats a cute dialect. Were you in the film "Trainspotting"?
Apr-08-11  Atking: <Ladolcevita: Ding Liren comes from my hometown:) So naturally I hope he wins this championship again.> Thanks for your kind message on Naoko's page <Ladolcevita>. It seems "your" player is going to win this great tournament!
Apr-09-11  Ladolcevita: <Atking>
Thats really nothing much
And yes, that's very likely of course, considering his triumphant performance at present. But nevertheless,0.5 points ahead wouldnt make really significant advantage,so I suppose contenders of a lower ranking so far should also have a good chance to win it.
Apr-09-11  plimko: And the Winner is Ding Liren! With a round to go! Congratulations.

Apr-09-11  plimko: Best game of the Tournament, in my opinion:

Zhao Jun vs Xiu Deshun, 2011

kingfu: Liren is leading the tournament by 1.5 points and has no losses.

And plays a French defense!

I like him already!

Apr-09-11  bundet111: I always wonder how good these people are with chinese chess lol...

I mean in chinese chess you can block the knight and there is no queen there are 4 less pawns that captures differently and bishops suck.

Apr-10-11  wordfunph: GM Ding Liren won in grand style by winning over GM Wang Yue to finish 9/11 and crowned himself as 2011 Chinese Champion!

GM Wang Yue's weak 25...Ng4 was the turning point of the game.

Apr-10-11  notyetagm: Chinese Championship (2011)

WOW!!!

An undefeated <+7 =4 -0> for Ding Liren.

And one of the best TPR's of the year for Ding Liren, <2868>!!!

Almost a 2900 performance.

Apr-10-11  PaperBridge: This is a great event, it seems, for Yifan Hou. Finishing with a positive score behind only the excellent Zhou Jianchao and Ni Hua and the inspired performing Ding Liren and Zhao Jun.

What was her performance rating?

Penguincw: Wow.Ding Liren has won the Chinese Championship (2011) with an 82% score. Also, the only player to be undefeated. And that's not all.Even if there's a 12th round,he has already secured an unshared 1st place. If there's a 13th round, the second place finishers, Zhao Jun, Zhou Jianchao and Ni Hua would only have a theortical chance to take a shared 1st place. One of then would have to win both of their games and Ding Liren would have to lose both of his games.
Apr-10-11  kia0708: Zhang is quite imprtessive, 9 defeats and 0 wins
Apr-10-11  Agent Bouncy: I agree with PaperBridge -- a happy tournament for Hou Yifan. Quite a few draws but all but one (with winner Ding) very hard fought. Note she finished ahead of 2700 Wang, who has been a world top 10 GM, and (former) 2700 Bu as well. I wish a rich patron would try to set up a match between Hou and Judit Polgar. I'm pretty certain Polgar would win at this time, but it would be fascinating to watch and would get lots of publicity too.
Apr-10-11  parmetd: I doubt Polgar would agree to play.

Wonderful last round encounter between Liren- Wang Yue. Liren won in a line that Wang specializes in!

Still does anyone know why Wang Hao did not play?

Apr-10-11  Agent Bouncy: I think Polgar would play if the money was right.
Apr-10-11  wordfunph: <kia0708: Zhang is quite imprtessive, 9 defeats and 0 wins>

pity for 2442-rated IM Zhang Ziyang, she lost all her games against male masters and extracted draws from untitled Xie Deshun and GM Hou Yifan for 2240 TPR..

eternaloptimist: This was a very impressive tournament for ding liren winning by 2 points & winning 2 Chinese championships in a row. Wang yue will have to take a backseat to him now. There is a new king of chess in china. I'd have to say it is my favorite foreign country that I have been to. I did some missionary work over there & enjoyed the people & food very much. Anyway, cha-ching for ding!

HeMateMe: Terrific event for Hou Yifan, 5th place. I can't wait to see if she can play some more men's tournaments, do even more damage.

eternaloptimist: Ding Liren showed a lot of patience in this tourney. He didn't blow the vast majority of his opponents off the board. He had to grind down about 1/2 of them. His game against Li Shilong is a interesting & good example of this as well as yesterday's game of the day against Bu Xiangzhi. I like the pun of the game against Bu. His games against Bu & Wang Yue show that a changing of the guard is taking place in chess in China.
