Nov-17-14 | | PhilFeeley: <notyetagm: Ushenina withdrew.> After losing to the 16-year-old leader. Was she ill? |

Nov-19-14 | | waustad: The Ushenina forfeit will make this table look strange. There probably isn't a good way out of that without using a full crosstable. |

The aforementioned crosstable. |
Nov-19-14 | | waustad: Osmak still has to play both sisters. |

Nov-24-14 | | PhilFeeley: <waustad: Anna U's situation is discussed some here: http://chess-news.ru/en/node/17318> Wow! More to that story to come I hope. <Ushenina had complained about the absence of anti-cheating control in the Championship. The whole issue is currently being insevtigated by the Ukrainian Chess Federation.> |
Nov-25-14 | | tjipa: I wonder why Ushenina exited the tournament after the 1st round. Was it politics or health, or what? The reasons given in chess-news.ru clearly look more like a pretext, not the real ones. As to the possible political context, the fact that some players migrate to stronger federations amid political turmoil, I guess, is normal. Especially, if someone like Karjakin has never considered himself Ukrainian. Don't know about Lagno - hers is definitely a purely Ukrainian, not Russian last name. Interestingly, Anna Muzychuk came back to Ukraine from the more prosperous Slovenia, so, possibly, some chess players even know what patriotism is. As Dude says in Big Lebowski - it's a complicated matter, lots of ins, lots of outs... |
