Jan-29-14  RedShield: Yet another laurel in the crown for the Boy Wonder. It's just a pity that Alekhine's not still around to write the tournament book.
Jan-29-14  RedShield: Vlad was right. Simply playing over the moves of Magnus vs Vishy, I could smell the fear.
Jan-29-14  SirRuthless: So when do the main event pairings get released?
Jan-29-14  cro777: Round 1 of the main event pairings:

Carlsen-Gelfand
Aronian-Anand
Nakamura-Caruana

Jan-29-14  John Abraham: Anand got mated in 22 moves by Carlsen. It will be interesting how this result affects Anand's play against Carlsen in the real tournament. It's hard to believe this game will not have psychological impact or bring back memories from the championship match
Jan-29-14  SirRuthless: Judging by the types of openings used( outside of the players normal repertoire) I doubt they care *that* much about some silly 5 round blitz event. One of those things where a loss my bug you for five minutes and then it's "whats for dinner" to the girlfriend/wife/SO.

OhioChessFan: Vishy's wife? Yeah, he isn't worried about a blitz game.
Jan-29-14  SatelliteDan: Anyone here a ICC chess club member? Is there server down?
Jan-30-14  QueentakesKing: Why was Wesley not invited? Who is scared of Wesley So?
Jan-30-14  KingchecksQueen: I heard it thru the gravepine: That MC would not play if WS was included. How true?
Jan-30-14  manorchy: PawncoughsockpuppetscoughPawn, kindly take your nonrelevant playertalk to a tournament page where he's a participant of, please. Thank you.
Jan-30-14  BobbieM: Carlsen won so please change the order of the standings admin

HeMateMe: If MC played So in a 15 game blitz match, Carslen would spank Wesley so badly, he'd dislocate his hand and wouldn't be able to hit a chess clock for a month.
Jan-30-14  evlozare: red shield- 'another laurel in the crown for the boy wonder'

sir ruthless- 'silly 5 round blitz event'.

sigh... another day in cg kibitzing.

Jan-30-14  KingchecksQueen: Cranky people die young.
Jan-30-14  Eti fan: Parallel event with Grischuk, Moroevich, Nepo etc. http://www.chessdom.com/moscow-open...
Jan-30-14  SirRuthless: <evlozarr>It was a popcorn event with the sole purpose of securing the extra white.. The real event begins today.
Jan-30-14  Rolfo: < Carlsen won so please change the order of the standings admin>

CG has it never correct, the standings I mean when tiebreak is applied

Jan-30-14  gabisrael: The attitude from Aronian towards Gelfand was disgusting! He approved with his head the draw offer by gelfand, and then rejects it and points to the clock. Can't beleive it.
Jan-30-14  SirRuthless: <gabisrael> This is true? Wow. Shocking. I thought Levon had a good reputation. Do you have video evidence?
Jan-30-14  RedShield: The video can be seen:

Jump forward as close as possible to 1.29.45. We don't see Levon's face, but he was probably a bit sheepish.

Feb-04-14  Strongest Force: Naka-Lev: what a entertaining and great coffeehouse prime example of bewilderment with tricks and suprises for all!!
Feb-04-14  Strongest Force: Did Gelfy really play 1.e3? I think Asa Hoffman once tried to sell me on that move. Joel Benjamin once tried to get me to go against white with the devious 1.e4..Nf6 2.e5..Ng8!?
Feb-04-14  Strongest Force: It must have been a transmission error: Gelfy really played 1.d4
Feb-04-14  Strongest Force: Poops...pretend I posted to correct rapids section...
