Sep-30-12  Abdel Irada: Perhaps D. Freeman's definition of "troll" is narrower than yours.
Sep-30-12
Premium Chessgames Member
LIFE Master AJ: <Benzol> While you might be a fan of Mr. Freeman's heavy-handed tactics, I (obviously) am not. He also cost himself memberships, as I tell all my friends about this situation and ask them NOT to join ... until it is rectified to my satisfaction.

LIFE Master AJ: He also made a big mistake ... when he threw me in with the trolls.
Sep-30-12  Abdel Irada: <LIFE Master AJ: He also made a big mistake ... when he threw me in with the trolls.>

To judge by your new avatar, your intended relationship with said "trolls" is gustatory rather than rhetorical.

Oct-01-12  Benzol: <AJ> I'm not a fan of anybody being heavy handed and I'm sorry that your game pages have been closed but at the time a number of members were acting like a bunch of rabid dogs and I really felt I didn't want to be any part of it anymore. I'm also sure I wasn't the only one who felt that way.

Here's something that I posted around that time :

<I don't know if it's just me but I'm becoming increasingly disturbed and saddened at the apparent deterioration of behaviour of some of the members at this website. One member has been driven off his own game page and it looks like another could follow suit very shortly. The bigotry shown on the former is most distasteful and I can't read most of it.

There is constant bickering over a vast array of gamepages of another member. I've seen children act in a more responsible manner than what has been shown there.

The Fischer thread seems to be getting crazier. I didn't think that was possible but it appears so.

I have invested a great deal of time and effort over a number of years into this database and website ( nearly 4000 uploads of games and whole tournaments says so ), but I'm giving very serious thought to jacking-in my membership because of what has been transpiring recently.

There have been differences of opinions between members before but nothing like the events described above.

If you've made it this far or even care, thankyou for your attention.

I've closed my forum in protest.

The next step will be probably be the deletion of Game Collections and if that doesn't register then I'll be off. Some people here don't deserve the effort that others have put in.>

And I did a great deal of thinking about leaving at that time. My membership nearly ran out before I decided to renew it and then only for a year.

If I had left then, the <Biographer Bistro> and Historic Tournaments updates would look a lot different ( and probably poorer in my opinion ) than they do now. What do you think?

I doubt very much that the admins enjoyed having to close your game pages but something had to be done about the situation and the line is drawn by them like it or not. Maybe at some future stage your games will be open again.

In any case I believe you feel that Mr Freeman ACTED like an idiot rather than him actually being one.

LIFE Master AJ: <Benzol> All good points.

Rather than drag this out, let me just say that you stated your opinions with great clarity, without resorting to a personal attack ... I applaud you for this!!! (Seriously!) Some users, like HMS123 (and many others) seem intent on making this a personal vendetta ... I am not interested in that. [Of course the trolls are still here, Finan, Col. Mort and all the other sorry souls who attack me ... no matter what I do or say ... and it is obvious that has not changed. I have nothing left to say to any of them, other than the fact that none of them are decent chess players ... OR maybe even decent human beings.]

I am saddened (and ashamed) by the fact that Fischer was a great player ... and people - rather than celebrate his wonderful career and exquisite games of chess - indulge in the most awful, stupid and petty discussions ever seen. They soil themselves ... and this site as well. (And I have seen this behavior repeated on many other pages as well, poor Wesley So must be horrified ... IF he ever even bothers to read his own page anymore, that is.)

I apologize if we have ever clashed in the past, or if I have said any mean or derogatory things to you. (I really mean that!) If we cannot be friends, let us (at the very least!) remain civil to one another.

I think that we should remember why we are here ... NOT to attack someone for their personal beliefs, (and my beliefs - although publicly stated ... are mine, and I have both a personal and a constitutional right to them) ... so we are not here to try and destroy or bring down other members, but to enjoy and celebrate the wonders of our game of chess.

I am VERY happy that you did not leave (or delete your VALUABLE game collections... it sounds like you are one of the few sane and decent people here!

I changed my avatar ... simply because I am much older, I have less hair, I no longer wear a beard, and I am rapidly going gray all over. In short, the picture of me is a relic of the past and something akin to a deceit; as I no longer look like that at all. (I am also a HUGE Gator fan, I have loved that team - and their school colors - ever since I was a small child. I never went to college full time, but if I could go back, it would definietly be at the University of Florida.)

BTW - please don't take offense at this - but I would put it this way ... I don't think ANYONE has the right to delete a game collection!!!!! Most of these are quite good, (let us not even speak of the ones that are aimed at making someone else look bad); and highlight some aspect of chess ... I think that you would have done yourself (and chess!) a great dis-service and a you would have committed a terrible wrong had you resulted to such a drastic and an extreme measure ....

LIFE Master AJ: BTW, all of my chess collections are very serious. A few I think are quite good ... and took a lot of time and effort to compose and bring together. NONE are aimed at making anyone look bad, or ANYTHING negative or derogatory.

And that's all I have to say about that.

LIFE Master AJ: <Abdel> I think you are on the borderline of being a troll, yourself. In short, if your only purpose in coming here and making a comment was to start a fight or stir up trouble, than that is definitely the behavior or a TROLL.

Decide what you are - and how you are going to act - and I will treat you accordingly.

LIFE Master AJ: On the topic of my games being closed ... ... ....

I will say that I am being persecuted. (unfairly) My games are closed, and I am the ONLY player that is being so treated! I guess the only option left for me (to change things) is to resort to legal action, as nothing else has worked.

Oct-01-12  ForeverYoung: AJ you rock! Very nice work on those annotated games! peace Paul

This is a sentiment I couldn't agree more with.

Anyway I've got to get back to work and get on with updating Game Collection: Interzonals 1962: Stockholm so I'll see you around.

LIFE Master AJ: Back to winning ways.

Won the "Gulf Coast Classic" in Pensacola on Saturday, October 20th.

Talk about your top-heavy tournaments!
Myself, (Goldsby) Joe Jurjevich, Rick Frye, David Hater, H. Charry, etc.

I went 3.5 out of 4 ... clear first. (Fritz said I had a won game ... but I missed it. After nearly 60 moves ... all that was left on the board was two Kings.)

I will post a link to the rating report as soon as it is available.

My student - John Laning - also did well. (He won best top "B" got a trophy and a check for around $75.00)

Oct-21-12  blitzpatzer: Congratulations AJ!

From the "Gulf Coast Classic" ...
played October 20th, 2012. (I won, 3.5 out of 4.)

This was my one draw ... I stopped recording , but according to my clock it was 59 moves. (Nothing left on the chess board but two Kings.)

I missed a win!!!! You challenge is to find it ...

White to play and make his 48th move here, I believe.

BTW, my opponent here (Black) <above> was "Smokin' Joe Jurjevich," he has won the State Championship of Alabama ... many times.

Actually, the counter on my clock said 59 moves. I reconstructed the end of the game, I probably left out a few random checks. (But this is generally the way that the game went.)

LIFE Master AJ: I just went 9-0 in a one-minute tourney on chess-dot-com. I defeated two higher rated players, however, most of my games with the lower-rated players were the most interesting. FLchessplayer (1963) - akhmedaga (1635)

In this game, my opponent moved much more quickly than I.

After 13 moves, I think I am a little better.

After 22 moves, I think Black has probably equalized ... he is playing on the Q-side, while I am King-hunting. (As usual.)

After 29 moves, Black has broken through to the Q-side, while my K-side attack still has not started. (Yes, Black sacked an exchange on a3, but he is way ahead on time and also has the eay plan of pushing his passed Pawn.)

Now - after 35 moves - I had less than 10 seconds left.

Amazingly, all my final moves, (from move 36 to the end of the game); are best.
