Castrillon gained her FM title by winning the U14 female division of the 20th Panamerican Championship held in Mar Del Plata in 2009. She gained her WIM title by winning the Women's Zonal 2.3 in 2012, a result that also qualified her to play in the FIDE Knock-out Women's World Championship (2012) there she played and was defeated by Russian GM Nadezhda Kosintseva in the first round.
