Ariel Sorin was awarded the International Master title in 1989, and the Grandmaster title in 1995. He won the Magistral III Mar del Plata 1989, and tied for 1st-2nd with James Mann de Toledo in Buenos Aires and has twice won the Argentine Championship, the 75th in 2000 and the 79th in 2004. He played Board #4 at the 2004 Olympiad in Spain, 5.5/11, with a 2425 performance rating. His FIDE rating in Jan 2005 was 2509, placing him #6 in his country.
