|Jun-18-15|| ||mcaskin: Gustafsson looks exactly like Judge Reinhold.|
|Jun-25-15|| ||Penguincw: Happy Birthday to GM and chess24 commentator, Jan Gustafsson.|
|Jun-25-15|| ||tpstar: <Jan Gustafsson> Happy Birthday!!|
|Jun-25-15|| ||whiteshark: Herzlichen Glühstrumpf, <Jan>! You can also party in Norway, right?|
|Nov-15-15|| ||FSR: Earlier today he and Pepe Cuenca completed a 72-hour banter blitz marathon.|
|Dec-05-15|| ||kamagong24: LCC 2015
after Anish, Gustafsson also took a shot of Magnus during the post game analysis, asking Magnus when the Golden State will lose adding Magnus is more interested in basketball than chess
maybe Magnus needs a break from chess to recharge or he might be saving for his 2016 title defense
either way it gives entertainment after a barrage of draws in rounds 1 and 2
|Jan-08-16|| ||Moszkowski012273: If you can, check out his "Banter Blitz" sessions on Chess24... They're both hilarious and instructive...|
|Jan-08-16|| ||waustad: He is funny. He drinks so much liquid on camera that I wonder if he has diabetic issues. Maybe it has nothing to do with it and he is just nervous on camera and the cup is his crutch. I'd be nervous on camera.|
|Mar-29-16|| ||suenteus po 147: Just want to give a shout out to Gustafsson for his excellent post-game analysis. I recently saw him comment on Nakamura's win over Anand in this game Nakamura vs Anand, 2016 and I found it highly instructive. I could follow his analysis clearly and he was consistent about pointing out theory and explaining why Anand was making the moves he was in the game despite how disastrous it would turn out for him concretely on the board. He was also clear and concrete about Nakamura's preparation and how he built it on Anand's regularity in this opening system, trapping Anand in his own prep as it were. Really fascinating and insightful.|
|Mar-29-16|| ||tamar: I don't know if Jan ever visits this page. He is probably coming off his 20 cups of coffee addiction right about now.|
But I too found his the best and eerily correct analysis of the Candidates.
|Apr-11-16|| ||FSR: ♫♪♫ Back when the West was very Jan, |
There lived a man named Gustafsson,
He loved to snack upon a pawn,
A greedy man, this Gustafsson. ♫♪♫
|Apr-17-17|| ||Dionysius1: Does anyone know why Jan seems to have stopped doing Banter Blitz? For more than a year it has been appearing on YouTube every few days but there's been nothing new for 3 weeks or so!|
|Apr-17-17|| ||whiteshark: <Dionysius1> No worries!|
End of March he played a 3 days a` 8 hours/day Banther(mara)thon together with Loek van Wely and Lawrence Trent
and from April 8-16, 2017 he played the 17th Bangkok Chess Club Open.
In between some holiday on Thai beaches me thinks.
From Wednesday on he will commentate the Grenke Classics together with Peter Leko.
|Apr-18-17|| ||Dionysius1: Phew - thanks <whiteshark>! I'd miss Jan if he stopped. Although I find that if I gorge on his YouTube banters I get sick of his facetiousness. Great in measured doses though - and always makes me feel I understand more about chess. If only I could remember everything he says when I come to play.|
|May-01-17|| ||FSR: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vzj...|
|Sep-13-17|| ||Helios727: Has Jan ever lost or drawn any of his banter blitz games?|
|Sep-22-17|| ||Helios727: Never mind. I found a video where he suffers and loss and a draw in banter blitz.|
|Jun-26-18|| ||Telemus: From his biography: <He is a co-founder of, and frequent commentator for, chessgames.com.> Well, this is new to me.|
|Jun-26-18|| ||Diademas: Well spotted <Telemus>|
|Jun-26-18|| ||JimNorCal: I submitted a correction slip|
|Jun-26-18|| ||JimNorCal: Happy belated birthday GM Jan|
|Jul-01-18|| ||jith1207: Anyone knows Jan Gustafson's user name in this site?|
|Jul-01-18|| ||MissScarlett: <johnbarleybore>|
|Jul-01-18|| ||jith1207: Thank you|
|Jan-11-19|| ||jith1207: LOL, the bio previously said Jan Gustafsson is co-founder of chessgames. Now I see it has been corrected, this makes sense. |
This is the reason I had previously asked his username here, I thought he's a frequent commentator here. But equating him to <jbc> is an insult though.
