Sep-15-03   PinkPanther: This guy disgusts me, look at how many extremely short draws he's been getting recently.
Sep-15-03   Sylvester: It says that 36.77% of the games in the database are draws. Does anyone know about what the percentage is for tournament games with players in the 1400-2100 range?
May-22-05   skakmiv: Sakaev is number 30 on the FIDE rating list. Now who is this guy?

Apr-12-06   Halldor: Easy puzzle - White (Sakaev) to play. Solution below.

36. ?

I saw this puzzle in the Danish Skakbladet magazine (2004/1) and found the position interesting. I was first looking for something deep but then the solution came as a surprise... - as I said, easy!

This could well be added to the chess puzzles from the games of Konstantin Sakaev at http://www.wtharvey.com/saka.html

See the solution in the game:

[Event "Bundesliga 0304"]

[Black "McShane, Luke J"]

The text is the first move I considered, but the tricky thing is to see that Black can't win back the piece by taking on c6 after the exchange of queens so White wins a piece.

Apr-22-06   Nikita Smirnov: I am reading his book he did in 2003 with Semko Semkov "The Queens Gambit Accepted" and I really like this book very much.I like Sakaev's style of analysing the position. When I am reading I always remmember Botvinnik.
