Jun-17-04   weirdoid: Why did their reigns overlap?
For instance, according to the table, in 1997, Umansky, Oim, ans Timmerman were all world champs.

Sep-11-07   centercounter: I was fortunate enough to play him in a simul (realtime, not correspondence). ICGM Oim preceded the simul with a very informative lecture (perhaps more so than OTB GMs as correspondence players look deeper into their games).

He took part in an OTB event at our club the following week. For someone who can be described as a legend, he was so very down-to-earth and friendly to everyone.

I hope he is still doing well. In a world with so many elite players behaving badly, Tony (his nickname in the US) is uniquely refreshing.
