Jun-27-18  morfishine: Hey, the loanshark is charging me interest but there's no games to bet on. I'm doomed!

He really is a Loan Shark! lol

Jun-28-18  morfishine: Can I declare bankruptcy and start over? My balance is going up 90 chessbucks per day! I'm doomed! lol
Jun-28-18  wordfunph: <Annie K.> congrats, cheers!!!
Jun-28-18  WinKing: The chess world is kind of quiet now as far as strong events go. The only event of note going on now is the Russian Higher League where the top five players in the tournament will qualify for the 2018 Russian Championship Superfinal. The next big tournament seems to be Dortmund Sparkassen 2018. That doesn't start until July 14th.
Jun-29-18  morfishine: Yikes, I have to wait 15 more days? I'll be down another 1,500 chess bucks

My position is sinking faster than the Titanic...:(

Chessgames Bookie: Paging User: jingohanson — I have emailed you all the necessary info to get started.

<All> This leg will probably be a joint effort between Jingo, Annie, and myself. We're going to put up some funny bets between now and the start of the summer leg to help train the new bookie.

chessgames.com: Please note that the bets available will not impact the Summer leg; we will wipe the slate clean in a few days.

Also note that the last time we did an Independence Day injury bet, Daniel emerged unscathed. He's not a total klutz, at least when it comes to flaming things that explode.

How about this year, we do a Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest?

And of course, there's also World Cup matches.

Annie K.: <Ohio> Umm... not *that* desperate. ;p

OK, here's a cute little event <Jingo> can train with: https://chess24.com/en/watch/live-t...

I'll put up a couple of bets for example. :)

Jul-02-18  sydbarrett: Some of these bets are pretty random haha :)
Jul-02-18  WinKing: I wanna know what's in the 4th of July bag that we don't know about. Any cherry bombs or M-100'S. That would make the bet interesting. ;)

Good luck to our new Bookie <jingohanson>!

OhioChessFan: I would never wish ill on Daniel, but I do have some big bucks on an injury. Just saying...

Stonehenge: Perhaps an idea for a new bet:

First move, which side of the board? Left side or right side?

So for example if you think the first move is d4 or Nc3 you pick the left side (or Queen side).

offramp: <Stonehenge> That sounds to me like a good idea.

And how about North or South?

Jul-03-18
Premium Chessgames Member
Stonehenge: Yes, if you think it will be a Ruy Lopez you pick South.
Jul-03-18  WinKing: You be safe out there tomorrow Daniel. I bet that you won't be injured. You seem like a 'common sense' type guy to me. Have fun out there but no unnecessary risk taking. I'm surprised you even put up a bet like that. Almost as if your tempting fate.

chessgames.com: About 5 years ago a stray jumping jack seared some of my leg hairs. So now my trick is that I bet on myself to be injured. And since I never win a Chess Bookie bet, I regard myself as perfectly safe.
Jul-03-18  sydbarrett: So that's who Daniel is. I thought it was a famous daredevil or something.

Where did Count Wedgemore's dollar go.

These bets don't matter right. All draws = bad.

Penguincw: I just emailed <cg> (about unrelated stuff), and at the very end of the email, he put:

< "I hope that answers your questions and have a wonderful and safe Independence Day." >

Thanks, and I wish the same upon you. ;p

FSR: It looks like Muzychuk was White against Ivanchuk in round 3, not Black as you had it! No fair! (Since these bets don't really count for anything, I can't get too upset though.)
Jul-03-18
Premium Chessgames Member
Annie K.: <FSR> are you sure you're not looking at the Round 4 pairings? ;)

Now my problem is that I'm fighting an urge to pay the bets off... ;s but if I did, they would disappear from the admin interface, and I set them up so they can serve as examples of regular chess bets, not as actual tournament coverage.

Must... leave... that... payoff... button... alone...

Jul-03-18  Count Wedgemore: <syd: Where did Count Wedgemore's dollar go>

Daniel probably took it, to buy more fireworks.

On the bright side, you're still in second.
