Annie K.: <Tab> yeah, when we come to regional event titles, putting the region first does sound better. :)

Does anybody want to vote on this? ;)

Tabanus: <Annie> No hurry. I've found two more events to work on and I see you're https-busy. If we start with the World, there is

Rapid World Championship (2013) --> World Rapid Championship
FIDE World Rapid Championship (2014), delete FIDE
Rapid World Championship (2018) --> World Rapid Championship
Women's World Rapid Championship (2012) > World Rapid Championship (Women)
Women World Rapid Championship (2014) --> World Rapid Championship (Women)
Rapid World Championship (Women) (2018) > World Rapid Championship (Women)
FIDE World Blitz Championship (2013), delete FIDE
FIDE World Blitz Championship (2014), delete FIDE
Blitz World Championship (2018) --> World Blitz Championship
Women World Blitz Championship (2014) --> World Blitz Championship (Women)
Blitz World Championship (Women) (2018) --> World Blitz Championship (Women)

Annie K.: Thanks <Tab>, we are very busy indeed.

I guess we shouldn't have different orders for World and Regional titles, so I'll probably go with the World Rapid Championship etc. order after all. I'll run through this list sometime soon. :)

  OhioChessFan: From Linares 94:

<The tournament director Luis Rentero Suarez was later accused of having the video removed from the public. There are some letters and pictures in Ocho x Ocho 146 (pp. 28, 32-33). >

I am guessing the second sentence needs a couple clarifying words, eg, "There are some letters and pictures addressing the matter in Ocho x Ocho 146". Or it might mean something else. But as is, it needs work.

Most the edits on that page are from <Tabanus> but I am not sure. Anyway, wanting to clean that sentence up and don't want to presume.

Tabanus: Game Collection: IBM Amsterdam 1973 is up for voting.

<Ohio> I added "addressing the matter" (Q & D). The Ocho x Ocho 146 is linked to in Sources, if the link still works.

The rationale being twofold: i)it would reasonably justify the omission of computer vs computer games; ii)it would allow the inclusion of players or otherwise significant chessic personages for whom no known games exist.

Yes! Yes! Yes!

We do not need to 'reasonably justify " that omission or change the name. Just do it.

Or cobble them all together in one bland thread called the 'Watching Paint Dry' section for people who have lost the will to live.

Though I have to admit I do chuckle when I see computer analysis being posted on a computer v computer game. What role does the human actually play in that act. A servient?

Not that it's anything wrong with puristic snobbery...

<Annie K>, <Steamed Colleagues>

These three pgns were rejected by the <upload utility> for "notation errors," which Annie was kind enough to let me know.

I have just slowly played them all through my <Shredder III> chess engine and I cannot find the errors? Is there some notation rule that I am missing, and that my engine is missing also? My engine is ancient. So am I.

I was going say drop the links. Also sometimes castles zero-zero is displayed as Capital O - Capital O.

Most PGN viewers I use do not mind this and change it but the online viewer at RHP does like (or use to dislike ) capital O and refuse it.

<Gentlemen> thank you!

When I initially submitted them, I deleted the weblinks before sending them from the PGN upload utility.

So all three went in <without> web links.

Also, every game I have successfully uploaded to our database uses the numerical 0-0 and there has never been a problem with that.

##################################

By "notation errors" I presume <Annie K> meant errors in the actual game score.

Possibly having something to do with a convention for noting rook moves, a convention which my old engine ignores?

For example, in this score:

[White "Feigin, Movsa"]
[Black "Bergs, Teodors"]

From this position, White to move- 24.?

The score I submitted had <24.Rcxc4>, so I changed it to <24.R3xc4>, thinking that might be the preferred convention?

But when I did this and then played the revised move notation through my <Shredder>, the engine automatically changed <24.R3xc4> back to <24.Rcxc4>. It "understood" my change but ignored it, still listing a correct move:

After 24.Rcxc4 AND 24.R3xc4 same result:

lol that is top shelf.

Possibly in this scheme there could be a gateway portal on logging in with two choices:
