Aug-25-05  ConLaMismaMano: This is a very talented 16 year old FM (soon to become IM) from Paraguay actually rated at 2410. He drew two strong GMs (Leitao 2598 and Ricardi 2551) at the Continental Championship.
Aug-26-05  ConLaMismaMano: Axel is most probably going to surpass his fellow countryman GM Franco Ocampos (the only GM that Paraguay has).
Mar-09-07  Robin01: Looks like he won The Lone Star Championship in Texas. He beat two 2400 players in doing so.
Feb-20-08  BIDMONFA: Axel Bachmann

BACHMANN, Axel

_

Mar-07-08  stonebrain2006: Axel did very well at the Morelia-Linares Iberoamericano 2008. He beat GM Vescovi and Bruzón among other lesser rated players, and was favorite to classify to semifinals when quite unexpectedly he lost the last 3 games in a row.
Mar-07-08  whiteshark: You ain't seen nothin' yet, b-b-b-baby...
Mar-08-08  vonKrolock: Formerly known as <Axel Bachmann Schiavo> (in Spanish, father's name come before)
Mar-08-08  whiteshark: <vonKrolock:> I'm confused Axel Bachmann Schiavo

Is 'Bachmann' his father's name, and if so, is it also part of his (son's) name ?

Mar-08-08  vonKrolock: <whiteshark> So far I know, it's just a, so to say, formal inversion - in non-Spanish countries, the <Schiavo> would be simply the 'middle' name (from mother's side). Of course, there's a source for confunsion, in general...
Mar-08-08  Calli: <I'm confused> Me three. Is it Axl Rose or Randy Bachmann? :-o
Jul-26-08  Whitehat1963: His sister recently got married. Her married name is Kathleen Bachman Turner Overdrive.
Nov-04-09  Birthday Boy: Happy Birthday!!!Axel Bachmann!!!

Jun-09-14  waustad: Looking at his rating card he's made a rapid rise in the recent past. He's playing a lot now in Europe which may have something to do with it.
Jun-09-14  waustad: He has a Wiki page in German: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Axel_B...
Jul-30-14  waustad: He won the V CAMPEONATO IBEROAMERICANO INDIVIDUAL ABSOLUTO: http://chess-results.com/tnr140360.... which netted him some more elo. He's picked up almost 100 pts in the last year and had a performance rating of 2754 at the tournament. Whatever he's doing to improve his game seems to be working. Anybody know who his trainer is?
Aug-18-14  zanzibar: His facebook page:

Dec-24-14  cro777: In 2004, Axel won the Paraguayan championship ... and nine years later (2013) he won the Paraguayan Chess Championship for the second time.

(Bachmann receiving his trophy).

In March 2014 Bachman won the 30th Cappelle-La-Grande International Chess Open, one of the most traditional opens in Europe.
