Beer is believed to be over 10,000 years old. Although no one knows its exact origins, some agricultural historians believe that the first beer may have been produced accidentally when a stash of grain was soaked by rain and then warmed by the sun. If this mixture were spontaneously fermented by wild, airborne yeast—which thrives in just these warm, moist conditions—beer would have been produced (Encarta).
Fermented beverages have been preferred over water throughout the ages: they are safer, provide psychotropic effects, and are more nutritious. Some have even said alcohol was the primary agent for the development of Western civilization, since more healthy individuals (even if inebriated much of the time) lived longer and had greater reproductive success. Jan-27-14		HeMateMe: At middle age there's more stuff you'd rather forget than remember, so that works out ok. The medical community says you can have two beers a day, normal alcohol content, without beating up your liver. I'm sticking with that, and I'm not giving up my beer.

Jan-28-14		HeMateMe: No way. Animal House is forever. Food Fight!! I lived in a real frat house for two years, a butt-ugly three story monstrosity, just like the one in the movie. I can honestly say we had a few characters similar to the animal house crew. Of all the movies and TV shows about frat houses, The 'Delts were the closest thing to a real fraternity.

Feb-15-14		HeMateMe: I was in a movie theater and an ad for Viagra came on before the film. As is a sign of the times, they had to run the looooong print disclaimer after the commercial, to keep for being sued later. Somewhere, buried in the disclaimer on screen is the line about "if you have an erection lasting four hours, seek IMMEDIATE medical assistance..." Some guy shouted out "FOUR HOURS!!??" and got a laugh from the entire theater.
