CHESSGAMES - BEER

[what is this?]

Beer is believed to be over 10,000 years old. Although no one knows its exact origins, some agricultural historians believe that the first beer may have been produced accidentally when a stash of grain was soaked by rain and then warmed by the sun. If this mixture were spontaneously fermented by wild, airborne yeast—which thrives in just these warm, moist conditions—beer would have been produced (Encarta).

Fermented beverages have been preferred over water throughout the ages: they are safer, provide psychotropic effects, and are more nutritious. Some have even said alcohol was the primary agent for the development of Western civilization, since more healthy individuals (even if inebriated much of the time) lived longer and had greater reproductive success. Dec-12-04  vonKrolock: And here another of his games G Timoshenko vs R Beer, 1997

Just now i'm celebrating my 753th post in this site: The only place in the web to discuss disinterestedly such crucial questions like - Otto Michaelis' real strenght, Castellvi's genealogy, Zurab's reasons, various surname's etymology , Erwin Puto's acting, etc, etc, etc

>hiccup< sorry

Dec-12-04  yoozum: congrats, vonKrolock. i plan on celebrating my bicentenial here or on kasparov's page (plans are subject to change, lol).
Dec-14-04  vonKrolock: Za vashe zdaroveea, <yoozum>!! Maybe the number 753 have nothing very special in appeareance, but it have some curious properties as every number – well, never mind, it was not chosen, as Bent Larsen said once: “My best game? My next game!” (the same adapted to the kibitzing Art) –that’s my believing for a site whith recorded posting…

Dec-14-04  aw1988: As has become custom, I am celebrating my 1000th kibitz with a Beer.

  cu8sfan: <percyblakeney> It's hard to judge from the picture but I've seen apple juice in these bottles before. I can't imagine Anand playing in the Bundesliga drinking beer. (-;

  lostemperor: It says in today's quote of the Day:

"Whiskey stimulates the imagination" --- Blackburn.

Why not Beer?

Dec-21-04  percyblakeney: It could be some kind of sponsor thing he's getting rid of before the game, Chessbase claims it's a beer but I very much doubt that he's all that "stimulated"... http://www.chessbase.de/bundesliga/...

  cu8sfan: I once played a guy who demonstratly got up and bought a beer once he got into a winning position which I found very arrogant. O how I wish I could have found a magical winning combination...
Dec-21-04  WMD: Did he bring his beer to the playing table or was he standing at the bar?

  cu8sfan: <WMD> He brought it to the table. What do you think of that?
Dec-21-04  yoozum: was this at a tournament or just casual play?

  cu8sfan: <yoozum> This was our city's championship. It was the lowest playing category, though. I like to have a beer myself if I play casual. (-;

  lostemperor: Like Blackburn I always drink whiskey or Beer when I play a tournament match not to stimulate my imagination but to ease the nerves.

It really seems the players with beer pictures are only taken for sponsor's reasons. Anand seems to say "hey you, you want this beer? What am I doing with this?" (although later he does show off his beer tummy :-).

Dec-24-04  yoozum: Beer in hand, i will celebrate my "bicentennial", if you will, right here.

cheers, and happy holidays.

Dec-25-04  aw1988: A Beer, for Christmas!
Dec-25-04  Avion: Merry X-mas everyone!

I was going to play chess on www.chessanytime.com and it turned out that you have to pay now...

Is there anybody who could tell me where I could play for free in something similar to the site above?

Also, www.echecs21.com isn't working on my computer(I have a old crap)...

I know it may not be the good place to post this, but since everyone comes to beer's place...

Dec-25-04  Knight13: One more time: I ain't drinking no beer!
Dec-25-04  Phoenix: <knight13> No Beer? Not even A Root Beer?

Merry Christmas, everyone!

Dec-25-04  Knight13: <Phoenix: <knight13> No Beer? Not even A Root Beer?> Beer contains alcohol and I don't want drugs destroying my body. I am sure there are people on chessgames.com who got Physical Dependence on alcohol.
