 | | chessgames.com: I haven't gone over all the logfiles yet but congratulations to <sydbarrett> who most certainly is the winner of this leg. One last call to anybody who wants to "be the bookie" for the upcoming leg. Just contact Daniel at chess@chessgames.com and I will fill you in on the details. |
| Dec-31-16 | | sydbarrett: Got a premium account notification. I believe that's the prize. Your website has been invaluable over the years for going over historical GM games. Cheers for the upgrade. |
| Dec-31-16 | | WinKing: Congratulations <sydbarrett> on winning the Fall Leg! You stuck with your horse(Karjakin) & rode him on to victory, good call. I went with Carlsen, as did many here, but he failed to have the better tiebreaks. See you in the Championship Leg. |

 | | Penguincw: Yep, great last round picks <syd>. Congrats on the membership, and also qualifying for the Championship leg. I also made some last minute cash, but it was insignificant (believe it or not, I had already qualified, so I didn't really try, for whatever reason), hitting DBD in Rilton Cup Round 4: Pick Three and also betting on favourite A Muzychuk in Blitz WC - Women: In-Play Winner, when she was only like half a point behind the lead. Anyhow, congrats to those who have qualified, and let's rest a few days before welcoming the new bookie to the 2017 Championship leg: 10 years since the first one. |
| Jan-01-17 | | sydbarrett: I saw the In-Play Women's Winner bet. Some measly amount like $20 was on Muzychuk while the whole pot was worth $1000s. Had no bucks to spare or I would have thrown a few on it. All I could do was envy the winner. |

 | | chessgames.com: Good news, not a trace of cheating in the logfiles, all winners are verified and will be placed in the ChessBookie Hall of Fame shortly. This is the first leg I can recall where a top 10 finisher accomplished the job with pretty much one bet. Call it luck or foresight, but it was a clean win. A 200 c$ pick-three is all he needed to earn a spot in the upcoming championship. Good job (you know who you are.) More info on the championship leg coming shortly. |

 | | Chessgames Bookie: The Championship Leg has begun - place your bets on the fine selections of players in the Tata Steel Masters and Challengers tournaments! <♔ Important Notice! ♔> Bookie players, please take note of the Announcements section: the tournaments listed there are going to be the only ones guaranteed to be covered by the ChessBookie this leg (inasmuch as they take place as planned). So far, late March seems to hold no event of interest, but be sure to check back and participate if one turns up. The <ChessBookie> has decided to adopt a policy of no longer attempting to offer daily or near-daily action; like the other betting contests on <chessgames.com>, we will cover only significant tournaments. We made this decision, because the increasing difficulty of finding volunteers to run this game indicates that the post of the Bookie needs to become less time consuming to appeal to volunteers; and while minor events usually don't offer great profits to the players anyway, dropping the hassle with them will make the Bookie's work much easier. This way, the ChessBookie Game can be kept running, and there will still be plenty of opportunities to make good headway on the Leaderboard for anybody who cares to make the most of the major events covered. Plan your strategies accordingly, and good luck to everybody! :) |
