 | | Sargon: <Tabanus: <Sargon> [...] The following game is missing because it's a standard GM draw and gets automatically rejected [...] I'd like to have this game and the two other playoff games together under a separate heading [...]> OK Tab, I've created the tournament Russian Championship Superfinal (Women) Tiebreaks (2020) and added P Shuvalova vs Goryachkina, 2020 to it. Whether or not to store groups of tiebreak games as a separate tournament altogether is an important topic for debate—one for which we need to adopt a consistent policy. We'll hold a final decision in abeyance for the time being, however. I set the gametype to <rapid> for this game. Please advise if that's not right. I'll add the other two games ASAP, and thanks for offering to add an introduction. Best regards,

 | | Sargon: <Tabanus: [...] they will sneak in ads whenever they can [...]> Nonsense. Any premium member who—having set the preference to suppress 3rd-party ad display—thereafter sees <any> 3rd-party ad on <any> page needs to <report it immediately, because that's a software error!> |

<PROPOSAL: EDITING COMMENTS> Could <CG> please allow temporal editing of a user [comment], similar to what <ChessTempo> does?> Yes, <Z4all>, this feature <does> need to be improved, and we plan to implement such an improvement ASAP. Please stand by. |

 | | Diademas: Anyone who knows the answer to my question? |
|
| Dec-23-20 | | Z4all: <CIO - <...> <SF/CG>, <Z>, <T> thanks all, glad to see the game is up.> Quite the alphabet soup, I must say... reminds me of this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ho7...
You always remember the first time!
PS- <Tab> did most of the heavy lifting in preparing the games for publication on <CG>, methinks. |
|
| Dec-23-20 | | Z4all: <Diademas> you'd probably want to switch over to the <Olga Viewer> forum for a more definitive answer... But I think you're out of luck with <Olga v1>, at least as suggested by this finding from a quick google search on the matter: Olga Viewer chessforum (kibitz #167) I think <Olga 1> has been mostly frozen, with all the improvements / fixes being deferred to v2. |

Thanks for your feedback, and we'll notify the requisite personnel to review your suggestion.> That was neither a suggestion nor feedback. It's just a simple yes or no question. |

 | | Check It Out: <Sargon> Similar to <OCF>, I use mobile, Chrome browser. I get ads just below the pgn and above the kibitzing on all game pages. Obviously a premium member, and "do not display 3rd party ads" is checked in preferences. |

| Dec-24-20 | | cameosis: <sokrates> i don’t disagree, on the contrary. but as i am an ocd completist, for tournaments (especially current ones), i usually rely on either official site coverage or chessbase’s play live page where i can grab the pgns. cg’s forte to my mind has been the additional info on otherwise hard to find players and individual games, less so a complete or timely presentation of recent / current competitions. while that’s at the moment no bother for me, i can imagine why and how paying members can be pissed because of this. <jessicafisherqueen> i recommend »a complete introduction to chess«, to which gloria gaynor has contributed as well: https://www.amazon.com/Complete-Int... |
|
| Dec-24-20 | | Sokrates: <cameosis> I get your <cg's forte to my mind ....> but evidently don't agree on the <less so a complete ....>. But that's fine, of course, I guess people are here for various reasons. Just for my curiosity: I have no idea what <ocd> means, less a <completist> as such. Please enlighten me, thanks. |

Just for my curiosity: I have no idea what <ocd> means, less a <completist> as such. Please enlighten me, thanks.><OCD> = Obsessive compulsive disorder. It's like when someone sees a question on the internet, and just has to answer it.
Thank God I'm not like that! |
|
| Dec-24-20 | | Sokrates: Thanks, <Diademas> :-) I am glad you're in a good mood and wish you a nice and cosy Christmas Eve. What is your menu tonight? We shall have roasted duck and pork, red cabbage, caramelized tomatoes and a nice brown sauce. Standard Danish dinner for the 24th. |
|
Dec-24-20
 | | Diademas: Holiday Greetings to you <Sokrates> and all other CG regulars. Normally we would have been 10-15 people in our house on Christmas Eve. Children, grandchildren, uncles and aunts. This trying year, we're down to me, my wife and my mother.
The menu is the same as every year though; Traditional "Pinnekjøtt" from western Norway. It's dried lamb ribs paired with puréed rutabaga and potatoes, served with beer and akevitt. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pin... Just as good as it sounds. :) |
|
Dec-24-20
 | | Check It Out: Merry Christmas, all. Tonight we will have salmon ravioli, arugula salad, and some champagne. Cheers! |
|
| Dec-24-20 | | Sokrates: Sounds really good, <Diademas>. Beer and snaps is usually reserved for Christmas Day here. I just saw that I wrote a wrong part of the dinner. It's certainly not caramelized tomatos, but potatos! Tomorrow we shal have fish like you today, <Check It Out>. Smoked salmon, though, with scrambled eggs, tiger prawns in olive oil/garlic/chili, and chicken breast with a tartar cream. The corona is terrible in Denmark these days, but we are also very privileged. Cheers! |
|
| Dec-24-20 | | WinKing: Merry Christmas everyone! Plenty of snow here in Ohio tonight. Santa should have no problem. |

Dec-25-20
 | | Susan Freeman: Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all.
It is interesting to see the different menus.
I decided on spaghetti and meatballs with a Caesar salad. For Christmas. I will be mostly alone. New Years Eve will be Yorkshire pudding and standing rib roast. With steak tartare
And herring and beet salad |
|
| Dec-25-20 | | Sokrates: Great link, Knut. The wife's thrilled! :-) |
|
| Dec-25-20 | | cameosis: <sokrates> what diademas said. as to »completist«, it means i need at the minimum all the results of a certain tournament or match to put a file aside and add it to my own database. cg in many cases has only a selection of games, not entire tournaments or matches, that was my point. i didn’t quite get with which part you disagree -- that i don’t have a problem with the sub-optimal updates /presentations of current chess events? that’s because i’m not (yet) a paying member and i search for the game files elsewhere. if i were a paying member, i’d share your sentiment. happy holidays to those that celebrate christmas! |
