Jul-16-21  nok: <So what do you get out of spending all this time here?>

Sokrates made a clear distinction between the site (owners) and the community (the plebs).

I'm here for (and with) the plebs.

Diademas: The plebs come here for the chessically content. Why do you come here?
Jul-16-21  Z truth 000000011: <Rich fellas come up an' they die, an' their kids ain't no good an' they die out. But we keep a'comin'. We're the people that live. They can't wipe us out; they can't lick us. We'll go on forever, Pa, 'cause we're the people.>

Meanwhile, back at the ranch:

<Diadmedas> (sp?), please be sure to ask <George Wallace> the same question.

Jul-16-21  nok: <The plebs come here for the chessically content. Why do you come here?>

That's a very narrow view of the community and you know it. It is a forum, and people count more than content, which is available elsewhere. Please don't stoop to an "if you don't like this regime just leave" argument. Tho I totally get Sokrates' decision to do so.

I've deliberately closed my line of communication to that particular poster, although I don't need access to his prose to answer that one:

He's a troll! So staying here and stir up controversy is kind of in his job description.

Jul-16-21  Z truth 000000011: I strike my request in that case!

And that is a very pompous way of looking at it. This is first and foremost a chess site. Not a social club for political agitation.

<Please don't stoop to an "if you don't like this regime just leave" argument.>

I don't. But belittling the thousands of man-hours unpaid volunteers lay down in collecting biographical and historical data to something morally indefensible I found next level arrogancy.
So since everything about this place seems to rub you the wrong way, my line of questioning was one based on curiosity.
<So what do you get out of spending all this time here?>

Jul-16-21  nok: <But belittling the thousands of man-hours unpaid volunteers lay down...>

On the contrary. Precisely because they give a lot of their time, they better think twice where that work is going to. And currently that's a private site which has taken some very specific political stances.

I'm sure <Scazo>'s fine with it, but people like <tabanus> who basically keep the site afloat, should perhaps pause and think about it.

Me too. That's while you'll usually find me in the The Kibitzer's Café.

Jul-16-21  George Wallace: <nok> senses that <MissScarlett> isn't woke enough for him. Somehow <scarlett's> un-wokenss is seeping through his personality.
Jul-16-21  nok: <Me too. That's while you'll usually find me in the The Kibitzer's Caf?.>

I can attest to that.

Nah, Lahndon. But I do drive a Volvo (which has a d5 engine, appropriately).

Willber G: I don't know why my earlier response to <MissS> was deleted.
Jul-17-21  George Wallace: For the same capricious reason that mine was deleted.
Jul-17-21  Z truth 000000011: Thanks <Wilber G> - it was so innocuous that I was having trouble remembering it, or exactly why it would be deleted.

It's an innocent enough bit of good wit, imo.

It only produces a Carlsen loss from 2001 35% of the time!

Jul-21-21  rbd: <susan freeman> has already cleaned rogoffland a lot in last few days.

I wish <susan freeman> also specifically tells that users be called by their proper names .

<Daniel freeman> had specifically told so and so should <susan> , i think.

This is another way trolls continually hurl personal insults - by perverting user names.
