Aug-12-23 | | Schwartz: I want to add a blank line at the end of a post. Quickly testing \n and U+000A failed. I think I'm one step from a solution, can anyone help? |

Aug-13-23 | | Messiah: <fredthebear> I have no other means to contact you, so I am writing here. On Recent Chessforum Activity it is indicated that there is activity in your personal forum, but when I click on fredthebear chessforum, the page is empty. It is very possible that they changed the layout to make your contributions invisible for others, or at least for me. It is very similar to my case: <no bio · you may fill out your bio at the preferences page.> - well, it does not matter what I write there, it does not appear on my user page. This is how their silent and selective censorship works. I accept that it is simpler than organizing Team Matches, doing live coverages, or to restart the ChessBookie - but, interestingly, I have no memories of willingly paying for this. |

<Schwartz>
I'll add a couple of things.
If your post includes more than one paragraph, you'll get a blank line added at the end automatically. Your typical post in the café consists of one text-line and a blue link. If you put a blank line between them, you have two paragraphs and will get a blank line at the end for free. If you'll use the \-trick to produce a blank line: At the end of your text, click [enter] once or twice, then \ and [enter]. You control that the \ will be invisible in the "This is how your post will look" window before posting it. A blank line at the top of the post: Write \ on top of the text and click [enter] once or twice.
Once: Instead of starting right after your name, the text will start one line down.
Twice: You'll have a blank line between your name and the text (like in all of my and <harrylime>'s posts).
(In this paragraph I put three \[enter]s in appropriate places to break up lines. This is also how to fix word clusters in poems and lyrics caused by a line that is too long for cg's liking.) In principle, what we do regarding top and bottom blank lines is simply extending the text in both ends by adding \, since inside the text we can add a blank line wherever we want by double-clicking [enter]. We could have used any character, but only \ turns invisible. |

 | | kingscrusher: Not such a big deal but I feel for the "Openings of the day" link from the front page, I wondered if overall it might be better to link to the ECO code version which has kibitzing capability. e.g.
King's Indian Attack (a07) instead of
Opening Explorer Unless the explorer can support kibitzing as well. I thought that the "of the day" kind of promotes Kibitzing but the explorer page doesn't enable it. But maybe also link the ECO code page to the explorer page. |

 | | MissScarlett: I do think there should be a weekly (as in TWIC) discussion on which current/recent events are worth uploading. I favour the St Louis Summer tournaments and the Arad Open (Niemann's last outing): https://theweekinchess.com/html/twi... |

 | | MissScarlett: <Chess.com and Lichess will halt their relationships with St. Louis Chess Club and no longer provide support for or cover any of their tournaments in the wake of allegations of sexual misconduct, The Wall Street Journal revealed on Wednesday. In an exclusive story, the influential newspaper reveals how the two biggest chess servers no longer will broadcast, provide news coverage of or support tournaments hosted by Saint Louis Chess Club. This will affect prestigious events such as the Sinquefield Cup, Saint Louis Rapid & Blitz, and Chess9LX, which are scheduled for this fall.> https://www.chess.com/news/view/wsj... <Miss Susan>, would it be fair to say that <cg> won't be joining the boycott? |

The 4eme edition du prix international Le Roi MohamedVI (2023) <MissScarlett: I do think there should be a weekly (as in TWIC) discussion on which current/recent events are worth uploading.>
Just let me know what tournament you believe should be uploaded, and I will upload it |

 | | MissScarlett: <Just let me know what tournament you believe should be uploaded, and I will upload it> Summer Chess Classic (2023) consisted of two separate events. When I requested the 16th Arad Open (2023) I didn't mean just Niemann's games. |

 | | stevemcd87: <Stone> The issue was that the PGNs didn't have a result at the end of the score. After inserting them, it worked: H E Atkins vs W Gibson, 1924
A Nilsson vs E Lundin, 1935
L Prokes vs Spielmann, 1926
Hromadka vs V Grguric, 1931 |
