 | | Susan Freeman: Ahem. There is no censor feature. |

 | | perfidious: If that is so, then why was my intended post flagged as follows: <Please do not use the word A-**** on this site. Thank you>? When, as stated, I neither used the word in the post, nor cited it in the intended content? Even in abbreviated form, it disallowed the intended usage this very moment. |

Dec-04-23 | | The Integrity: Once upon a time I frequented a forum that had a pretty fun and funny way of dealing with obscenities. Somehow, they made it so that any swear your wrote would automatically be translated to "Fish." So in people's posts you'd see, "Go fish off..." Or, "What the fish are you talking about?"
Or if it was like "What an a-whole" it was translated to "What a fish" I can't remember if appropriate suffixes were used, such as, "I was only fishing around!" When a swear would get past the filter, the mods simply added it to the "fish list" and that would take care of it. It was pretty funny! |

Dec-04-23 | | I Like Fish: What the fishing fish...
is that for...
question mark |

When, as stated, I neither used the word in the post, nor cited it in the intended content? This does not help you if you did not even intend to post it, I know. But deliberate posting is successful. |
|
Dec-04-23 | | Messiah: Addition: I deleted my previous comment, it was posted successfully with dots between the characters like in d.o.n.k.e.y. Worked flawlessly. |

Dec-05-23 | | stone free or die: <<Susan> It was just a glitch. All should be fine now.> To whom is this post addressed? |

Dec-05-23 | | stone free or die: <Susan> thx... (no innocent fish were harmed making this post) |

 | | MissScarlett: Attempting to update my Game Collection: Game of the Day pun Index (Torah-ZZ), I'm met with: <ERROR: The introduction to this collection is over the 64K limit.> Can this limit be raised for my pun index collections? It's bound to affect all of them at some point. Otherwise I'll have to rejig things. This message is intended for User: stevemcd87 who seems to pay little or no attention to his own forum. Is User: petemcd85 now defunct? |

 | | stevemcd87: <MissS>
Unfortunately, our database does not allow us to store more than ~65kb of data.
It will be some time before we can make use of AWS S3 to increase size for collections, bios, etc.
Sorry for the inconvenience |

 | | Stonehenge: <Steve> The site has been slow since Sunday. Often the Editor doesn't work at all. It keeps saying <Getting user uploads...> and than it's stuck there. |

 | | stevemcd87: <Stone>
I only noticed 2 CPU spikes since Sunday.
I will do some maintenance to the server soon in hopes it will help.
I am not experiencing any problems receiving user uploads, they seem to have all been processed. Which user was giving you a problem? |

 | | stevemcd87: <It keeps saying <Getting user uploads...> and than it's stuck there.> I didn't get what you meant at first, I'll add more logs soon to better debug. Let me know when you experience the issue again |

Dec-05-23
 | | MissScarlett: Is there a way to tell how close the respective collections here (Game Collection: Game of the Day 2023) are to the 65kb limit? |
|
Dec-06-23
 | | MissScarlett: As this is the place for suggestions, I have one - let's overhaul/improve the <Quote of the Day> feature. I don't know how large the quote collection is, or whether it's ever edited or supplemented, but I think it's time for an audit. With a view to editing/removing quotes that are inferior/redundant, unsourced or otherwise objectionable, and adding new material. |
|
Dec-07-23
 | | Susan Freeman: <Missy> Good idea re: quote of the day. I personally find them inspiring, but a few more or a change would be great. |
|
Dec-07-23 | | stone free or die: Can we get <London Classic (2023)> on the front page? |
|
Dec-09-23
 | | MissScarlett: How about 9th Gashimov Mem Rapid (2023)? |
|
Dec-09-23 | | stone free or die: <London>'s there, thanks. |

Dec-09-23
 | | MissScarlett: And CCT Final Playoff (2023). This is going to be another tricky event to curate. For multi-stage events there ought to be a way of reflecting the different stages in the individual game PGNs whilst housing them all together in the same event collection. |
|
Dec-09-23 | | stone free or die: <<Missy> For multi-stage events there ought to be a way of reflecting the different stages in the individual game PGNs whilst housing them all together in the same event collection.> This is an area where <CG> could be "better". But first it has to be "as good". <365chess> + <CB> have long handled this by appending qualifiers to the basic event name. . |
