If not, please provide the PGN you are trying to upload.

I'm convinced you accidentally clicked <Update Player Information> without making any changes. I've confirmed the script doesn't check for changes. Edit History: Chessgames - Sports

<Messiah> Due to an overwhelming amount of malicious activity, we are now blocking all VPNs, proxies, Tor nodes, hosting providers, and more. We are working on an update for groups of users to be able to bypass that rule of our firewall, rather than having a long list of single users who are requesting permission. A golf ball might be good as well.

  offramp: I know you are adding

<Chess - Recipes>

I think you should have <Movies> (in the UK we call them <fillums>) and you could add <Chess - TV>.

  Atterdag: The last couple of days, when entering CG on my PC (Firefox), I was not allowed to enter before I had verified that I am not a bot (I know this sentence sounds silly). The verification being recognition of certain motifs on a group of images.

Is that a new practice? Occasionally, I have to do it, when I log in on The Guardian or Die Zeit, but never here or on other chess-related sites.

I can easily enter via my cell-phone (Chrome).

Find a link to a pic of the existing balls (and puck) plus a cricket ball and a golf ball in the public domain and I'll swap out the existing image.

Maybe that's what Chessgames - Guys and Dolls should become? Perhaps rename it to <Chessgames - Entertainment> to cover Stage, TV, and Film?

We've been making a substantial amount of updates to our firewall the last few days to deal with an unusual amount of invalid traffic (IVT). We've recently made an update to reduce the amount of Captchas displayed to our users. Please let us know if the issue persists. Sorry for the inconvenience.

I use Firefox, too. Is it known to be a security risk beyond that of other browsers?

Sep-22-25  stone free or die: <<jn> Maybe that's what Chessgames - Guys and Dolls should become? Perhaps rename it to <Chessgames - Entertainment> to cover Stage, TV, and Film?>

This is what happens when you let the riff-raff come in and ruin a neighborhood!

<Dolls> has always been about beauty, all kinds of beauty - like chess sets, since I've been here.

To restrict, or even suggest, it's about movies is a complete corruption(*).

Also, how can someone who refuses to keep an open mind (as evidenced by lack of input to his management policies) be given such unrestricted unilateral powers that he can willy-nilly implement profound changes to <CG> forums with nary a word of discussion?

(*) Originally I wrote "a complete corruption of the small-minded". But I'll try to be a bit more open-minded myself, or perhaps more diplomatic than what is received.

I've noticed similar behavior on many other sites recently that I attributed to a recent policy decision by <cloudflare> (a popular security/web-service layer) to screen out AI bots from websites.

Sep-22-25  stone free or die: RE: Renaming forums...

A suggestion due to Jenny Agutter(*):

<Chessgames - Perfect Fantasy Fodder>

Chessgames - Guys and Dolls (kibitz #4828)

(*) Or should I say, inspired by?

  Atterdag: Thanks for the quick response, <steve->. For a couple of hours I couldn't open CG at all - said the site wasn't safe. But now it's all good again - like it was before.

Also thanks to you, <stone->, for that explanation. I like the mission <to screen out AI bots from websites> :-)

Sep-23-25  stone free or die: FWIW - Here's an announcement from Cloudflare, from July 1, 2025 about the AI stuff:

  Atterdag: Hi <stone-> Thanks for the link to the very interesting article. My 46 year old son is professionally engaged in AI, albeit also very critical towards it. I shall send him the link and see what he says about about it.
