offramp: How many Live Games have you shown this year?

I think it is two.

Sep-26-25  stone free or die: Also, the login's to <CG> are still malfunctioning.

Your recent security upgrades need to be backed out and reviewed. Clearly they weren't adequately tested.

Sorry if that's an incorrect conclusion, but that's what the evidence strongly suggests to me given recent experiences.

What kind of malfunction are you experiencing?
As you know, CG had to make some urgent upgrades because of IVT attacks. It was truly a technical emergency.
Any input would be helpful!

I have a Lenovo tablet which has DuckDuckGo and Chrome.

DuckDuckGo will not allow me to login here.

Chrome - no problems.

Sep-27-25  stone free or die: <off> - thanks for the confirmation.

<CG> should be browser agnostic.

Sep-27-25  Messiah: <<Messiah> Due to an overwhelming amount of malicious activity, we are now blocking all VPNs, proxies, Tor nodes, hosting providers, and more. We are working on an update for groups of users to be able to bypass that rule of our firewall, rather than having a long list of single users who are requesting permission. Sorry for the inconvenience>

It is really inconsistent. Sometimes I get the 403, sometimes not.

Sep-27-25  stone free or die: <<Suzz> Any input would be helpful!>

General vanilla viewing of the site from general public networks with vanilla browsers (chrome, firefox) is disallowed.

Only some generic error message appears.

Perhaps <CG> can volunteer us what messages we might expect and why.

Sep-27-25  stone free or die: Funny how this problematic episode happens to coincide with the return of <Rogoff>.

Not that I subscribe to any of the conspiracy theories floating about on it!

Sep-28-25  The Integrity: Problem - the page keeps reloading over and over again, and sometimes it fails and it ends up blank with an error message.

Happened on the politics page, but probably is happening elsewhere too. Perhaps a conflict with one of the ads?

FSR: I received an email from IM William John Donaldson offering over 1200 games of his friend, the celebrated author IM Jeremy Silman, who died two years ago:

<Dear Frederick,

Attached are over 1200 games of Jeremy Silman for possible inclusion at chessgames.com which currently has 252 games he played. There are quite a few with annotations (187 by Jeremy himself). I've done my best to include as many details as possible (locations, round numbers and first name of opponents).

If these new games and annotations could be included I would be most grateful.

Thank you,

John Donaldson>

There are two attachments with the games. Where should I forward this email?

Sep-29-25  The Integrity: <A problem repeatedly occurreo on "Chessgames Home Page /perl/chessplayer?

The page keeps reloading repeatedly and then crashes.

I'm using an iPhone.

  MissScarlett: <Where should I forward this email?>

Send in batches of 100. Not all at once, that is.

Sep-29-25  stone free or die: <FSR> - I would suggest putting it out as a PGN file on Google Drive, or some other host.

That would allow anyone, include <CG>, to do a single pull, instead of 12x (or however many) pushes.

<CG> often makes more manual work out of tasks than is necessary.

Also - putting it out as one batch file makes your work easier, and preserves the original source content for reference.

We've made an update that should resolve the issues you were experiencing. Please let us know if the problem persists.

<Messiah>
We're working on a custom response to replace the generic 403 Forbidden message for VPN users.
Next week🤞, we will allow VPN access to all registered users. We may need to revert the changes if invalid traffic significantly increases.

Oct-03-25  stone free or die: Spooky is how <CG> seems to be working lately - or not working as is oft the case.

I thought <steve> fixed the problem for a bit, but then it returned.

Oct-03-25  The Integrity: Still running into the same problem. I think there is an ad that causes the page to keep reloading until it breaks.
