 | | cu8sfan: <The only other game they used to run was this putrid trivia thing, I was bored to death with that.> Come on, I love the trivia game on ICC! But maybe, if you've seen it a thousand times... |
Apr-14-06 | | EmperorAtahualpa: Yes, <cu8sfan>, who actually ARE the chessbookie administrators? Are you part of it? |
Apr-15-06 | | talisman: ryan theriot played shortstop for me at broadmoor high school for 4 yrs.he is in AAA now for the cubs although he got called up for a cup of coffee last yr.hopes he makes it back - he is a special person.go cubs. |
Apr-15-06
 | | cu8sfan: All the best to Ryan Theriot. Thanks, <talisman> for sharing. |
Apr-15-06 | | Bobak Zahmat: Since there is a forum for the Match between Topalov and Kramnik, can we already start predicting the match? If so, I would say 12-0 for Topalov. |
Apr-15-06
 | | cu8sfan: <Bobak Zahmat> Let's do M-Tel and Dortmund first, OK? (-: I'm not so sure my prediction game is well suited for a match. |
Apr-15-06 | | Bobak Zahmat: Okay, it was a joke! :) Maybe you have to create a new match prediction contest for September :) |
Apr-19-06 | | talisman: i've been a cubs and sox fan(we'd get wgn) for a long time.i was curious-what did ya think about the sox last yr? |
Apr-19-06
 | | cu8sfan: <talisman> Honestly, I don't care much about the White Sox. But it's still great they won the World Series. By the way, when someone says 'Sox' I automatically think of the Red Sox whom I really like. (-: I once went to an afternoon game at Wrigley and then got on the El to see a night game at Comiskey Park. That was a great day! |
Apr-24-06 | | EmperorAtahualpa: <cu8sfan> Why are you actually a baseball fan? It seems a little off for a Swiss. :) |
Apr-25-06
 | | cu8sfan: <EmperorAtahualpa> Soccer was too boring and ice hockey too dangerous. (-: I just saw them play when I was on vacation in Florida and got hooked. It IS a little off for a Swiss and back then when I started being a baseball fan it was very difficult following games. That was before the internet. Many warm summer nights I sat on our rooftop and tried to tune in to AFN in Germany. There usually was so much statics I couldn't here a thing. Typical play-by-play would go like this: <Out of a stretch goes Maddux, he tchchchchchch (cu8sfan fumbles with the antenna) chchchchchch are in. So the score is chchchchch on base. Here comes chchchchchchch and chchchchch walks down chchchch...> |
Apr-25-06 | | EmperorAtahualpa: LOL, <cu8sfan> you went to some great lengths to follow those matches. I can appreciate that kind of fanaticism. |
Apr-25-06 | | YouRang: Hi there <cu8sfan> :-) <I'm not so sure my prediction game is well suited for a match.> True -- the CONMAN program wouldn't handle a match well (unless it were a 2 game match). But besides that, entering individual game predictions for a match is kinda odd. What can you say? "Topalov will win games 2, 4, and 10, Kramnik will win game 9, and the rest will be draws"? It makes more sense to bet on the final match result (e.g. Topalov 7, Kramnik 5), and for that, the ChessBookie makes much more sense. In fact, ChessBookie could do stuff like "Number of wins for Topalov", "Number of decided games", "Number of wins for black", etc. |
Apr-28-06 | | Robin01: Is there going to be a prediction contest for M-Tel? |
Apr-28-06
 | | cu8sfan: Of course there is! |
May-01-06 | | cheski: <cu8sfan: >:-) Feel wiser today? |
May-01-06 | | EmperorAtahualpa: <cu8sfan> I heard a Swiss ski-athlete (Rey Bellet) was murdered! What happened exactly? |
May-01-06
 | | cu8sfan: <cheski> Thank you for asking. Surprisingly I don't feel wiser, I only feel like I should feel wiser. (-: <EmperorAtahualpa> Well, when I entered the scene of the crime there was blood everywhere... Sorry, I wasn't there. Apparently Rey-Bellet and her brother were shot and the police are searching for her husband. Must be some family drama that has just happened to happen to someone people know. |
May-01-06 | | EmperorAtahualpa: <cu8sfan> Yeah I was hoping you already knew who's behind it, because over here it was in the news that they didn't know yet who committed the crime. So it was her husband then? Every now and then you hear about these family dramas over here too. |
May-02-06 | | Zebra: <cu8sfan> My trip is off, so I am back on line on GK. I don't know how to unpostpone games, but feel free to resume whenever convenient. |
May-04-06
 | | cu8sfan: <EmperorAtahualpa> <Rey-Bellet murder case> For your information, it was her husband and he was found dead last night. Apparently he shot himself using an army pistol. Every man in Switzerland has to go to the army, and everyone gets to take his gun home - including ammunition! Considering there are about 500,000 households with a gun and 10,000,000 rounds of shots in Swiss households it is surprising that we don't have more of these sad cases. |
May-05-06 | | monad: <Every man in Switzerland has to go into the army> No feminism there then, conscriptionwise. |
May-05-06
 | | cu8sfan: Are you kidding me, you're talking about the country that gave the women the right to vote in 1971 - and in some cantons as late as 1990! |
May-05-06 | | EmperorAtahualpa: <cu8sfan> That's very tragic news! By the way, I had no idea that in Switzerland people have guns at home. How did this tradition start? I thought this was basically only an American affair. :) |
May-05-06
 | | WannaBe: <EmperorAtahualpa> We are not the only country that allows citizen to have guns. |
