Kamsky - Anand 0-1
Adams - Ivanchuk 0-1
Bacrot - Aronian 1/2

lostemperor: Last week I played in a tournament when one of the higher ranked well known participant did not show up untill 9 when the game starts at 8 o'clock. His honest excuse was he overslept. That can happen at 8 o'clock. But it was 8 PM. Chessplayers have a different life;)

Btw. "immovable object" Leko was moved yesterday:)

cu8sfan: <VishyFan> It's not too late to post a complete prediction for round 7:

<Round 7 - Saturday the 21st
P. Leko - G. Kamsky >

<YouRang> Funny, your post about which match ups were difficult to predict was taken as a prediction by you. (-:

There are several ways to enter a draw: 1/2, 0.5, ½, =, draw. Maybe you could add ".5" to this list. Thank you.

  Annie K.: <Chessplayers have a different life>

LOL, <lostemperor>! Indeed. Wonder if that's a result or a prerequisite of playing chess? :p

<Btw. "immovable object" Leko was moved yesterday :) >

Yes, "irresistible force" Anand turned out to be stronger. ;)

Jan-20-06  YouRang: Oops - My apologies for posting incorrect information yesterday regarding best predictors. I accidentally posted one of the results incorrectly. :-(

In found 5, there were five <best predictors> who got 5 of 7 correct:

Assassinater, nintenchess, WannaBe, you vs yourself, zarra

Also, regarding the <games that fewest people predicted correctly>, in round 5, we had:

Karjakin-Bacrot[1-0]:
Predicted by: nintenchess, Assassinater, Appaz, AdrianP

Topalov-Mamedyarov[1/2]:
Predicted by: Xerox, me to play, excmo, AdrianP

Jan-20-06  suenteus po 147: Ugh, I'm at an all time predicting high with 3/7 :p Is predicting four white wins for round seven unwise?
Jan-20-06  YouRang: ROUND 6

<Best Predictors> with 5 of 7 correct:

DRAWER, acirce, Broon Bottle, cade, grobmaverick, lostemperor, petrovalovski, VishyFan, yalie

<Games that fewest people predicted correctly>

Adams-Ivanchuk [1-0]
Predicted by: VishyFan + suenteus po 147 + PinkPanther + Joshka + grobmaverick + cade + Broon Bottle + Bent Bexley + badmove + babakova

Kamsky-Anand[1-0]
Predicted by: NOBODY!

Jan-21-06  you vs yourself: This sucks! <iron maiden> beat me; <drawer> beat me and even this guy that never kibitzes, I think his handle is <acirce>, even he beat me! What's this world coming to?
Jan-22-06  badmove: <cubs8fan> I don't know, but is suspect NOBODY has predicted a victory of Sokolov through these eight rounds counting all games with Non-Dutch rivals. I am right?
Jan-22-06  Assassinater: <cu8sfan>, I'm just curious; how many people have predicted at least one all-draw day and how many people consistently predict all draws?
Jan-22-06  PinkPanther: <badmove>
That's because Sokolov sucks. He should just be glad that somebody is playing worse than him for a change this year.

cu8sfan: <I don't know, but is suspect NOBODY has predicted a victory of Sokolov through these eight rounds counting all games with Non-Dutch rivals. I am right?>

Broon Bottle, Joshka and Resignation Trap have each predicted two wins for Sokolov, eight other players have predicted one win for him. In total he was predicted to:

win: 14 times
draw: 312 times
lose: 162 times

<I'm just curious; how many people have predicted at least one all-draw day>

Two participants have predicted all-draws three times, another four have done it once.

< and how many people consistently predict all draws?>

One - <Drawer>.

  cu8sfan: <Joshka> You're not that special. (-;

In round 2, four players went 0-fer:
Father Karras, lostemperor, me to play and WannaBe.

In rounds 4 and 8 <Whiter> didn't score and in rounds 5 and 6 it was <Blacker>.

cu8sfan: <YouRang> I was suspicious before looking at the Betting Ranker results:

<Earnings,UserID,Games,Rounds>

$22.76,YouRang,56,8
The fact that you come in fourth is not surprising anymore but:

$-16.84,cu8sfan,56,8

Do you hate me so much? (-:

Betsson.com has these same 7 selections as favourites at this present time(1800 GMT). Its time to beat the bookie. PS. I just happened to accidently access this site when I was sweating over my forecast. Honest!
Jan-23-06  EmperorAtahualpa: <--- WORST PREDICTOR (1 of 7): EmperorAtahualpa>

Geez, thanks a lot for letting the whole world know about that, <YouRang>! :)

WannaBe: Worst predictor, time to bring back the old avatar <EmperorAtahualpa>. =)
Jan-23-06  YouRang: <EmperorAtahualpa> Before I posted that result, I did seriously consider the possiblity that someone's feelings might be hurt by having their failures exposed.

But then, I decided, "aw what the heck".

I posted it anyway. :)

chancho: <You Rang> That was my first time entering the prediction contest. :)
Jan-23-06  YouRang: <chancho> You made quite a splash for your first time in!

Although you made it as a "worst predictor" with your 1-for-7, at least your one correct prediction was predicted by the fewest number of people!

If everyone bet $1 on each game that they predicted, and all the money was shared equally by the people who predicted correctly, then you would have earned $13.75 for that one prediction, for a net gain of $6.75 in round eight (having spent $7 on betting on 7 games). :-)

Unfortunately for <EmperorAtahualpa>, his only correct prediction was the Adams-Leko draw, and almost everyone (48 people) got that one right. The payoff for that game was just $1.15, meaning he had a net loss of $5.85 on that round. :-(
