Jan-20-23  Messiah: This is odd. I asked the ChatGPT to list the best games of Nezhmetdinov, and one of its responses was:

<Nezhmetdinov vs. O Kovacevic, Leningrad 1954: This game is considered one of Nezhmetdinov's most famous and spectacular games. He sacrifices a queen and a rook for two minor pieces and checkmates his opponent in a very unusual way.>

I am not certain that this game exists, could you verify it?

Jan-21-23
Premium Chessgames Member
jnpope: 1954 is outside of my era of expertise, but I don't know of any famous Nezhmetdinov game against "O Kovacevic" and Nezhmetdinov didn't give any such game against a "Kovacevic" in his Best Games of Chess book.

Honestly, the only game that leapt to mind where Nezhmetdinov gave up Queen and Rook for two minor pieces was one that you've already seen: R Nezhmetdinov vs O Chernikov, 1962 But it doesn't end in a mate...

And Polugaevsky vs R Nezhmetdinov, 1958 is a rim "mate in one" by a knight which is an unusual way to mate, but it doesn't hit any other criteria ChatGPT supplied...

My gut says ChatGPT combined a number of things to give you that answer. ChatGPT is basically a chat bot after all and I think it synthesized an answer to your question. Either that or it found a bogus piece of data and incorporated it into it's response...

Jan-21-23  Messiah: Thank you for your effort!

jnpope: I've always had access to that screen, however I cannot do anything there other than view my own submissions and read the log file after they are processed.

I'm guessing once I'm a super-editor I'll have access to a "Process Submissions" button?

And what about fixing or adding source tags to existing games?

Jan-29-23
Premium Chessgames Member
MissScarlett: There are tabs for Create Tournament/Player, Get Tid/Gid, Show Submissions and Get Correction Slips. There's a pulldown list of others' submissions.
Jan-29-23
Premium Chessgames Member
jnpope: Ok, so that's where things will appear... currently all I have is a bare window (no tabs) a button that can show/hide my submissions, a submission pull-down to play through my submissions, and an update submissions button.

There is also a Get Correction Slips button that pulls up correction slips from people other than myself, but I have no way to act upon them. *shrug*

mifralu: Julius Schlesinger vs L Landau, 1886

L. Landau → <Leopold Landau>

Julius Schlesinger vs Paul Seufert, 1888

Paul Seufert is a duplicate of Paul Seuffert

The tournament is here → http://www.edochess.ca/tournaments/...

  jnpope: Things that need correcting:

The four games under Julius Schlesinger should be moved to J Schlesinger with Julius Schlesinger vs L Landau, 1886 being Leopold Landau and Julius Schlesinger vs Paul Seufert, 1888 being Paul Seuffert.

Then O Schlesinger vs Falkbeer, 1851 should then become Julius Schlesinger

Which still leaves Paulsen vs Schlesinger, 1861 as a mystery (unless John Schlesinger turns out to be the "J. Schlesinger" from the Manchester 1858 tournament, at which point this is probably "B. Schlesinger").

And then the Anderssen-Schlesinger game still needs to get submitted.
