| Mar-30-19 | | Count Wedgemore: Good luck on the final stretch in the Bookie game, <moro>. Only one round left, so this is looking good! I will enjoy following the final round in St.Louis which will be my last day as reigning Chessbookie Champion (but rest assured, I will do everything in my power to take back the title next year :=). Go <moro>! |
Mar-31-19
 | | moronovich: Thanks <Count> ! Only one round left, but I suppose there will be a play off.And it is looking good, but you never know what can happen, especially in the last round. I have no doubt that you will do everything to take your title back. And I am looking forward to see you back again. Do you btw know which last meal is the most prefered for people on the death row ? With the best wishes for this Sunday to you ! |
| Mar-31-19 | | Count Wedgemore: <Do you btw know which last meal is the most prefered for people on the death row ?> No idea. Some fatty food, no doubt. I guess they don't have to worry about putting on weight :) |
Mar-31-19
 | | moronovich: <I guess they don't have to worry about putting on weight :)> Lol ! It is mainly stuff like burger with frites. Not in the mood for big gourmetexperiences ): Which reminds me of a cartoon, figuring a death sentenced guy eating, eating and eating at a buffet. He had done that for 2 months and hence prolonged his life.As the staff in the prison couldn´t find anything in the regulations which forbid such a behaviour. |
| Mar-31-19 | | virginmind: Ah, Gashimov Memorial starting in a few moments...great. I trust coffee and cakes tasted sweet by the seaside, in the company of Hannah. Hugs to you both. And good luck for the last round in St. Louis - or it ended last night? Now on to Shamkir. |
Mar-31-19
 | | moronovich: Yes,Gashimov has just started, but my eyes are on St. Louis till it is over.
One round to go and an eventually play off on monday. Seaside was nice with good coffee and 15 minuttes in the early spring sun. I dont participate in a CC game here, but enjoy a battle between <morfishine> and <Count Wedgemore>. I am very pleased to hear your health,in general,is fine ! Guess you stayed in Iasi this weekend and send hugs to both of you. Au revoir and so long. |

| Mar-31-19 | | achieve: <Moro> <Virginmind> et al. Sorry to have not kept my promise from several weeks ago... I was busy in a big clean-up and redesigning of my home, basically every room got the same treatment, and what had to go had to go, and what I kept was redeployed/improved etc.... A lot of work; and my largely diminished online activity came, and had to come, almost to a standstill in terms of social forums, which take up most of the time. Plus I am trying to cope with a sleep disorder that leaves me with too little energy to get online socially involved, unless I can keep it under strict control. My online activity is limited to < Youtube on TV> which I use now instead of the laptop, and to keep checking chess developments, Carlsen, AlphaZero, and a bunch of stuff. Hope everyone is doing reasonably well, and I expect to have some more time and energy to check in here more often, perhaps weekly; we'll see. |
Mar-31-19
 | | moronovich: But great to see you again <achieve> ! We go a long way and have had many wonderfull memories in my book. And best of sail in your winds to your endavours ahead of you. You are welcome here anytime and no hard feelings. HOKA HEY. |
| Mar-31-19 | | achieve: Thanks <moro>! - that's just the type of happy and true reaction that gives energy, much appreciated! HOKA HEY it is; it certainly works for me :) |
| Mar-31-19 | | achieve: Ok, just a mention of Game Changer, the book written by Sadler and Regan, on the AZ-SF games, and AI... Personally I am interested in the chess, the all-court vision, and how material is completely secondary to domination of squares and spaces, like the great Tal showed more than 50 years ago. Just wondering if you had taken interest in the games, some of which are pure "pussy" pardon my expression. Just throwing a line in the pond... I never was a Stockfish fan, and Rybka 2.1 was much more aware of spatial dangers, where SF is just a giant calculator getting him out of any trouble, except against.... Indeed. I delved quite deeply into the games, and assume you did not, and a lot of myths surrounded the matches, but some of the games were utterly thrilling and educational. |
Mar-31-19
 | | moronovich: hi <achieve> ! Have heard about the book, but dont read much these days.Nevertheless do i have an idea (very very roughly spoken)how it plays.Which,as you so fine put it,is a world were material is less important.Dominance,"waiting",profylaxe and if played to the max,the opponent will in the end commit harikiri.Kind of using the whole board. When a butterflie wawes it wings (Do butterlies wawe ?)in Tokyo the Wall street Market is influenced. Back to the kitchen-wife wants pasta :)
with shrimps. |
| Mar-31-19 | | achieve: Hi <moro> - I haven't read the book either, which came out 2 months ago, but plan on buying it in may. But a little over a year ago 10 games were released, which did catch my attention only in april last year, absolute stunners among them... Exactly like you described. Hope you enjoy your dinner with your wife, and maybe we can talk about a few chess things in the future. <and I want to extend my gratitude to <<virginmind>> for worrying over how I was doing>... Safe to say that I my road has been bumpy at times, but doing quite OK at the moment. |
| Mar-31-19 | | virginmind: Hi <achieve> and welcome back. Yes, it seems to me that people who, generally speaking have a tendency for longing/melancholy, are also prone to discovering and enjoying sounds and accords which remain hidden for a majority of folks around. I think it's the same with the eye being prone to see what others don't, in a picture, painting, or a landscape. Some may say they are watching instead their inner landscape, or that this helps them discover that inner landscape in others. It's probably all about art, any form of it, being prone to it, driven by it, sometimes even without noticing. It's also, of course, about the hidden ways in which our brain functions, the peculiar preference of one or other positioning of the neurons and their connections. In the end, it's all about the sort of connections you do or find. A matter of luck, perhaps, other times just pure randomness. Or is it more to it? Anyhow, we were close to visit Holland this June, renting a car and hoping from one town to another. More like having two bases actually, one of them being Utrecht, as close to other attractions around. We wanted to discover, among other things, the people, how the Dutch are. For some reason, I was thinking that the Dutch are somewhat special. I may be wrong though. In the end we changed our minds and this June we're gonna visit a totally different location. Maybe next year. Have fun with all your activities and see you around. |
| Mar-31-19 | | achieve: Hi <virginmind> - thanks for the kind and thoughtful words, and indeed my brain, if well rested, is very open to visuals, emotions, and sound. Especially sound affects me deeply, and often in my life was a saviour, with healing capabilities. It's all mindboggling if you investigate how this all works, the pineal gland, the hypofyse... There may be a numerical underpinning in all of the physical world, and beyond, but there is an enormously long way to go to figure that out, and at what gigantic cost? |
| Mar-31-19 | | morfishine: Dear <moronovich> Congratulations on your winning the 2018 Bookie Championship ! This Championship was well played and a deserving player can now again hold the coveted trophy! ***** |

| Apr-01-19 | | wordfunph: <moronovich: Congrats amigo <wordfunph> for taking the silver ! Well done. At the end I was rather nervous you would come up with a bonanza, but it looked like you didn´t risk that much? Or ?> i didn't take any risk, i played it safely coz your lead is semi-insurmountable. ...and besides you are my old-time pal just like the friendship of Vishy and Vlad, they can pre-arrange games to a draw :) again, congrats! you held the yellow jersey for most of the leg and you deserved it my friend. cheersssssssssss to the 2019 World Bookie Chess Champion <moronovich>!!! |
