stort tillykke herfra ! |

| Dec-09-19 | | Count Wedgemore: Good morning, <moro>. I see that the reigning Chessbookie World Champion has skyrocketed into 1st place in the standings! I'm at 5th, I intend on closing that gap (at least try to), now that the GP in Tel Aviv is about to begin. I'm horrible at playing on Women's games. I find them totally unpredictable! You, my good friend, do not seem to have problems predicting them, though :) |
|
Dec-09-19
 | | moronovich: Good afternoon dear <Count> ! Yes it is very nice to sky rocket-due to 500 on Ding and some on the ladies yesterday. And I agree that betting on these creatures is a whole different kettle of fish.I clearly remember last year were they were a kind of Waterloo for you while I barely survived the womens leg (there must be some kind of pun in there:). Right now I am enjoying the moment also
handballwise,27-24 vs Holland, and looking forward to Tel Aviv were I wish you the best of "luck". |

Dec-10-19
 | | moronovich: hi <Count> !
Talking about womans chess.
How to explain this lousy move in Koneru - Zhao 1.Nf3-d5.2.d4-b5 ? |
|
| Dec-10-19 | | Count Wedgemore: Getting out of book? It just looks silly. After two moves Black has already surrendered the c5-square. In the Polish you don't see an early ...d5 from Black very often. There is a reason for that! But I saw on the <CG>-database that Zhao Xue has done similar "stunts" before, without much success it seems. See this one here: R Bellin vs Zhao Xue, 2008 In the ongoing game it looks like Zhao has played well after her strange opening choice though, and causes Koneru some problems to solve. But I have no idea how this will end. I'm glad I didn't put any chessbucks on this one :) |

Dec-15-19
 | | moronovich: Thanks <morf< Good to see you in the house today ! Mailed you yesterday !
dont tell any:Wish I could switch bucks with you. |
|
| Dec-15-19 | | virginmind: Great job, <moronovich>! In women's handball Norway didn't get to play the final, but Holland then took the gold! Let's congratulate <achieve> :) |
|
Dec-15-19
 | | moronovich: We will <virginmind> We will ! Did yo see the finish ? OMG it was a nailbitter and I am not convinced the last red card and decisive penalty to the Dutch team was ok !?...What do you think
? All the best and wife and I are going to the mall to buy Christmas stuff and i´ll skip the non tournament ): in Jerusalem.Basta. |
|
| Dec-15-19 | | virginmind: I didn't see it, matter of fact I've followed very few of the matches in Japan. But I'm glad for <achieve> - no idea if handball is his thing though...
Haven't followed much of Jerusalim either, actually I started to play more on FIDE server to maybe get an official online rating. For now it's lower then on the others I'm in (playchess and chess.com) but hopefully it's gonna rise enough soon. We bought today a tree, not too big but it's well shaped, and left for the next days the presents part. Quite warm and sunny here, very strange December so far. Have a great evening! |
|
| Dec-16-19 | | morfishine: I played handball in High School during Physical Education class. I really enjoyed that sport |
|
Dec-16-19
 | | moronovich: That sounds great <morf> !
It is a very rewarding sport I think.
But somehow strange to me,that I played
Basket on the schools team,Volley too and first of all Football,as you know. But I never got into Handball and never figured out why….But I am shure it is the same pleasure, whatever the name of the sport is. But my granddad has met the guy who invented handball ! I think he was a doctor. |

 | | Fusilli: <Stumbled over an interview with Tukmakov...> Ha! Nice attempt at pushing the Kenneth S Rogoff page toward sanity! Sadly, it failed... This website has considerably slowed down since Daniel Freeman's death. Fewer posts, fewer people trying to solve the puzzles, I even guess fewer members, and less and less is posted everywhere... except that page! The crazies will never back down. |
|
Dec-21-19
 | | moronovich: Hi <Fussilli> ! Sadly I agree about the vibrancy is slowing down on this site ): Hopefully it will return to a kind of what it once used to.But that will take time IMHO.And probably some special efforts….What about advocating a correspondance game between CG members and a GM ?.Perhaps it is an overdue event, but it used to be something that could keep people engaged and trying to work together ! Or do you have any other ideas !? Thanks for sharing moments in 2019 and
may you have a Merry Christmas and all the best wind in your sails for the New Year to come. -moro- |
|
Dec-21-19
 | | OhioChessFan: Agreed with <moro> about a team game. Everyone seems to get along fairly well for those. I fear, though, engines have gotten too good, and the GM's won't play any more. |
|
| Dec-21-19 | | Count Wedgemore: <moro> & <OCF> Great idea about a team game. I've noticed that you used to have these challenges against grandmasters before here on <chessgames>. But that was before my time. I would have loved being a part of it, so sign me up! <I fear, though, engines have gotten too good, and the GM's won't play any more.> I see your point. Looking at the Chessgames Challenge page I see that the <CG> teams have been doing much better than the GMs. If I haven't overlooked something, the score is +6 -0 =4 in favor of "us". So no GM has been able to overcome the combined efforts of the World Team, or should I say the World Team's engines :) Here's a thought: Could it be an idea to have a game where no computers are allowed, neither for us, nor for the GM? If we have a 'Gentleman's Agreement' clausule, I'm sure that would be respected by both parties. What do you guys think? |
|
Dec-22-19
 | | moronovich: Good morning gents !
I am also "afraid" that the engines are too strong. And it would perhaps be too tempting to cheat if the deal was engine free as otherwise the good advice from CW sugested. But if there is a will - there is a way.
One team CG vs another team CG !?
(I am not participating, only lurking and enjoying the conversations. But that is another story) |
