stevemcd87: <Chess.com> seems to have an API that may work for us( https://www.chess.com/news/view/pub... ). It'll take some time to implement but can be extremely useful for future events if it works. I'll keep you posted.

It works OK when I post the full url (https://chessexpress.blogspot.com/2...), but doesn't when I remove the https, like so:

  Tabanus: Oh.. so the xtabs need additional help :(

On FIDE World Championship Knockout Tournament (2001/02), I cannot edit the many wrong dates. Trying to do so on e. g. O Touzane vs Anand, 2001, I get the message <ERROR: Please make the event information more compact.> I did not get this message on the equally long FIDE World Championship Knockout Tournament (2000).

  Tabanus: End user obs.: it seemed that in the same moment as the apostrophe etc. was fixed in the kibitzing, everything went wrong in the bios and game collections. As if the three were linked somehow.

  Tabanus: I copied 1/2 signs from Russian Championship Superfinal (Women) (2020) and replaced the ? symbols in Goldmoney Asian Rapid (2021).

It seems to work, should I do the same with all the events in TI?

  MissScarlett: <Steve>, your task list needs to include the null move recognition problem in Olga. I think I said once that 'pawn and two moves' odds games had all but died out by the 1840s, but that's not wholly correct. There are examples from handicap tournaments into the 1860s, and, no doubt, beyond.
Jul-29-21  George Wallace: <Steve>, how come the opening explorer only seems to find games up to the year 2020, but not 2021? Is it not being updated regularly?

  Tabanus: <How do you usually insert the 1/2 character... I copied and pasted mine ½> I said that I copied most 1/2 signs from another event in CG, but that's only a few. Most xtabs after 2000 are copy of the table in Chess-Results (maybe 80%) or the official site.

Example: I copied the table in http://chess-results.com/tnr548204.... (and then pasted it in CG or Notepad before editing it). Hope that helps.

  stevemcd87: Our server started to experience a very large CPU burst around 5:30PM EST time yesterday, which eventually resulted in bringing down the site this morning.
We are still looking into what caused the spike.
Sorry for the inconvenience.

<End user obs.: it seemed that in the same moment as the apostrophe etc. was fixed in the kibitzing, everything went wrong in the bios and game collections. As if the three were linked somehow.>
<Tab> I've noticed, I'll see if I can update the bios to show all the 1/2, at least.

  MissScarlett: <a very large CPU burst>

Sounds cool. What is it?

Jul-30-21

  Tabanus: <Steve> I trust the 1/2 signs will be fixed sooner or later. Daniel struggled with them too, and in several cases he replaced them with &# 189.

Example: Amsterdam IBM (1973) (see xtab in edit field)

  MissScarlett: <Steve>, how regularly is it possible to update the <Opening Explorer>?
Aug-03-21  Z legend of CG: While the <OE> should in principle be updated regularly, don't you think <CG> has other, more pressing priorities?
Aug-03-21  Z legend of CG: E.g.

Charles Henry Stanley

still is display non-sense characters. As are many, many other pages on <CG>.

Certainly this presentation layer problem should take priority.

==================

Agree with <Z>.

I have been manually correcting the non-sense characters as I come across them, but I really doubt I will get to all 500,000,000 player pages...

It took me 3 minutes to correct the problem page <Z> listed: Charles Henry Stanley

============

So 3 times 500,000,000 = 1,500,000,000

It will only take me 1 billion 500 million minutes to finish the job.
