 | | Tabanus: FIDE World Cup (2021) has 206 players. If 32 players (or less) one can make a KO table by hand, such as in European Championship (Women) (2000). If 64 players such a table would be less pretty. |

Jul-21-21 | | Z truth 000000100: Better than the generic "?", but still not quite there! (Comma, or apostrophe?!) |

 | | stevemcd87: It seems emojis are not working but commas and other "diacritics" are.
Emojis:
????????????
Diacritics:
èêëöøû
Let me know if you spot any other characters that aren't working.
I'm still working on it |
|
Jul-21-21 | | Z truth 000000100: Testing...
<“Those faster diagnostics may be able to sense whether or not you’re generally infected with COVID, but not necessarily whether it’s the delta strain specifically that’s afflicting you,” according to Fortune.> works in preview, let's see about post-post. |
|
Jul-21-21 | | Z truth 000000100: Good job, progress is being made.
(It was the utf-8 stuff, I presume?)
( (Unfortunately, emoji's are also included in the Unicode standard ;P -) ) |
|
Jul-21-21 | | Z truth 000000100: My emoji is still working - ha! |
|
Jul-21-21
 | | stevemcd87: <It was the utf-8 stuff, I presume?>
<Z truth> Yes. So far, all I did was remove my previous workaround and added <meta charset="UTF-8"> to the <head> of the html. lol
I'll let you know what I did to solve the Emoji issue... when I figure it out.
Thanks for the help. |

 | | Tabanus: Új Szó. Great.
See however the crosstable of Russian Championship Superfinal (Women) (2020). On my screen the 1/2 signs now show as a ? mark inside a tilted black square. |
|
Jul-22-21
 | | stevemcd87: <Tab> I created a query to update the 1/2 characters to be utf-8 compatible.
Can you please confirm the Russian Championship Superfinal (Women) (2020) event is looking as it is supposed to.
If so, I will update the rest of the Tournaments.
Question:
How do you usually insert the 1/2 character... I copied and pasted mine ½ |
|
Jul-22-21
 | | Tabanus: <Steve> The Russian Championship Superfinal (Women) (2020) now looks fine on my screen. (But not all the others.) I almost always find the ½ sign in another event and copy it. |

Why is the short form of Vladimir Zhukov "C Zhukov"? |

<Stephen>
I uploaded B Levitas vs A Reshko, 1968 three days ago and the date fields are still blank. This means the month is missing from the top header on the published game. I regard this to be a potentially big problem. Remember all the time we spent over a year ago tracking the "date bug", ultimately determining that it resolved itself after around three hours wait time? This game is over 48 hours wait time. Am I going to have to manually type in date fields for a second time after every single game I upload from now on? |

 | | jessicafischerqueen:
<Stephen> I have uploaded a few hundred games over the last three weeks. Am I going to have to check every single one of them for blank date fields now? Please tell me there is a way to fix this retroactively? Looks like I'll be typing in the date field information twice from now on eh? Simonian vs C Zhukov, 1968 M Archvadze vs G Chepukaitis, 1968 Malkhasian vs F N Ignatiev, 1968 |

 | | jessicafischerqueen:
<Stephen> if this is now a general problem, how on earth am I to know the dates for games that were submitted by someone else? This is a big problem for anyone who cares if this website is capable of uploading games with accurate dates on them. |
|
Jul-25-21
 | | jessicafischerqueen:
<Stephen> Some good news- It's just the 16 latest games I uploaded from that batch I sampled above that have not successfully shown the date fields after three hours. I uploaded those 16 around two days ago. I just spot checked the games from batches I uploaded more than two days ago and the date fields have repaired themselves as "normal." It would certainly be better if the date fields worked properly to begin with on publication though. |
